The easiest way I know to get there is to go into Newport and take Hwy. 25/70 toward Del Rio. Pass Del Rio and watch for Hwy. 107. Take a left on 107 and just go a little bit (can't remember exactly, but I think it's only a mile or two) and you'll see a sign for Bubbling Springs Shooting Range on the left. Turn down that little dirt road and it will dead end at the range. There's a little box that you put your money in, I believe the fee is $2 per vehicle. Then just shoot away! Here's a link that you can check out.....I couldn't find a good map, but I'm on dial up, so you might have better luck navigating around that site. It also has info about fees and such, and contact numbers you can call for more info: French Broad River Vicinity :D

If you go out there, be sure to check out Meadowcreek Firetower....which is just a little further down the road on the left also. You park, then walk a short trail up to the fire tower and you can actually go inside it.....absolutely gorgeous views!!! If you have more time, go on up hwy 107 until you see the sign for Paint Creek (past Paint Rock a few miles) and follow the signs to get there.....definitely worth the drive! It's the most beautiful place I've been to in Tennessee, and I've lived here 15 years! You can camp, fish for trout, swim, picnic, and just relax! It's awesome!!! :tough:

Thank you for all the info. We are definitely going to check it out. I got a Plinkerton .22 today from lowbud and can't wait to shoot it. My husband found it using satellite images and your directions on yahoo maps. We're ready to go, hopefully this weekend. Thank you again!

You're welcome! If you're planning on taking the bikes, it's a beautiful ride! FYI, you can get all the way up to Paint Creek on blacktop....but the turn-off roads that take you to Bubbling Springs and Meadowcreek Fire Tower are dirt/gravel.

Hope you and Mr. BBC have great weather and an excellent time!

We didn't take the bikes because it would have been hard strapping on the rifles! lol Come the think of it, the ammo would of weight us down as well. When we go shoot, we go shoot!! It was a beautiful drive and we were the only ones there! Except for the bugs! We'll have to bring the bug spray next time. Thank you again for pointing us in that direction. Maybe next time you can join us. :shake:

Glad to hear you both had a good time! :P

That's one of the cool things about that place.....usually there's no one else there! It's fun to have the whole place to yourselves. My ex husband and I used to go up there pretty often (like 10 yrs. ago). We'd stop at a grocery store and buy 2 or 3 cases of their cheapest soda (orange is good for best visibility) and take it with us. When we got to the range, we'd shake the cans up and then go set them on top of the target stands to shoot at.....talk about fun! The cans would literally explode when you hit them. Afterwards, we'd go pick up the shredded aluminum for recycling.

Never thought of doing that, I'll have to try it out. It sounds like alot of fun! Thank you for another new ideal! ;)
