New Glock owner - range report

Recommended Posts

Went to Guns and Leather and picked up a G22. After perusing the entire selection and chatting with staff, I picked out what I knew I would leave with - a .40 cal Glock. As usual, the guys at G&L were helpful and a pleasure to do business with.

We burned through a few hundred rounds tonight, here's one target:

New G22 and my Sig P239:

The 239 (9 mm):

8 rounds @ 10 yards with the Sig, 115 gr. WWB:

The new one :stunned::

I've happily traversed to the Dark Side, and I'm glad I did. Next up: G21 SF.

Two hundred rounds with a Glock and it didnt blow up? That must be some kind of record!

J'K:D

The 22 is a nice gun but a full-sized one. Really full sized.

Yes, it is full-sized, but it has forced me to carry OWB (Blackhawk Serpa), and it's really comfortable (I've been carrying the 239 IWB). Just a t-shirt over it in Kroger or wherever, and it's apparent that no one notices.

I'm still adjusting to the trigger, though, especially after the Sig, which is perfect IMO.

I carry a G17 IWB all the time, you just have to get the right holster. It's really pretty easy. You will have to adjust to the trigger, it's very different from the SIG. Once you get used to the Glock trigger, you'll see that it's very fast and easy to shoot.

Won't run any better, but is less likely to accidentally blow your foot off.

C'mon now, be nice. Glocks will only blow your foot off *accidentally*

if you're in law enforcement...

..and an expert and the only one professional enough with a Glock 40. J/K!

Don't listen to the "nay-sayers". They would have you spend 2-3 times the money for a gun that won't run any better than your Glock. Spend the money on ammo.

...and, everyone should drive a mid-80s Ford LTD, because they were good enough for law-enforcement, run just as well as any of these new-fangled contraptions, parts are cheaper and easier to find, and they are made by the company which wrote the book on mass-production of automobiles... everything else is just an attempt to copy it.

Is there anything more low-class than pissing all over a guy's new firearm purchase?

Actually, that's why I wasn't going to say anything until Trigger called me out.

I'll say it again. Glocks are reliable, accurate, sufficiently safe with factory ammunition, don't have a safety to get in the way and get you killed, and are good enough LE duty weapons.

OTOH.... :D
