I've received many meesages, public and private, thanking me for my long-winded post. Since I posted, I've had some more thoughts and could probably post another equally as long with more info.

Tungsten has indicated the launch of a legislation/politics section might be coming soon. If that happens, I'll be glad to blab on till you are all sick of seeing my name.

In case anyone is wondering, I'm am not making this stuff up as I go. I've been involved in local/state-level politics for several election cycles now, have assisted on many campaigns, atteneded many seminars/ forums/conferences on political advocacy and even threw my own hat in the ring last year. (Yeah, I lost.)

So, while I dont consider myself an expert by any means, I am more than willing to share my thoughts and ideas to the forum.

Full disclosure: I am a liberal Democrat. I have no trouble being a liberal and a Democrat while fully supporting the 2A and rights of law-abiding gun owners in general. I see no contradiction at all. A true liberal fights for the rights of ALL. True Democrats support the FULL constitution. But, ALL my political experience is from the left, so anyone who considers my opinion in any way should know that up front.

That said, I'll be glad to help in any way I can, even if that means shutting up. Gotta go to a meeting.

Safe and happy shooting everyone!

Actually, in the south its really not that bad. MANY of the Dems I know and work with in my local party own multiple firearms, have a carry permit, hunt, etc. My local state rep is a Dem and has an "A" rating from NRA. National rhetoric does not necessarily equate with local beliefs. It works both ways -there are many Republicans who dont necessarily believe in 100% of what their leaders say. Kinda makes life interesting though -the bumper stickers on my car often raise an eyebrow or two when I pull into the range/gun shot parking lot!

Wish you could convince the rest of your party of

that.

Very true, Len. I'm from a Republican part of the state, but local politics is nice to the Democrats too. The rest of my family is/was from Georgia going back to the Civil War. They largely voted as a Reconstruction Democrat until just recently when there has been a shift to the Republicans. With the Republicans also becoming a party of big government, there isn't much difference between the parties these days. Unfortunately your party's national leadership seems rather decisively anti-gun while the Republicans are only moderately anti-gun....

I'm a believer that government which governs least is best. That puts me in a distinct minority. Everyone wants their "entitlements." I think you are entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That's about it.

I think many Dems in TN at least are still conservative, just not on all the same issues as republicans. I can deal with logical democrats, it's the wackos depicted nationally that I can't seem to understand.

On topic, is there any way to edit the title of this thread to change the bill number?
