Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine gun

The $200 tax stamp also only covers 1 Class III item. So a MP5 SDA5, the fully suppressed, fully-automatic, under 16" barrell (SBR - Short Barrel Rifle) version of the MP5 has three class III items on it, so it needs three $200 tax stamps.

I was given the opportunity to purchase this firearm in 2000 for ~$16,000. When or if you get one, (I did not, my money tree has not been putting out any lately)you might as well buy some reloading equipment and learn to load 9mm if you haven't already. You will shoot all the 9mm you own upon receiving any MP5. Its a smooth operator.

No you are wrong. A machine gun trumps a SBR. A machine gun can have any length barrel on it without having to have a SBR stamp. The gun you described above is a two stamp gun. One for the machine gun and one for the suppressor.

Some F/A integrals are 1 stamp guns but the MP5SD is a 2 stamp as are most full auto integrally suppressed guns. But an extra $200 is pretty irrelevant to the overall situation with prices at 15K and up.

However if you have a trigger pack with a transferable sear and want to move the pack from host to host and the various host all have a short barrel this can be a gray area. But if it is just one host for the sear no tax for an SBR is needed. Same would apply to a UZi with a transferable Bolt.

Most people with HK sears just put a pistol end cap on the gun when the sear is not being used in it. In the case of a MP5K they also have to remove the vertical fore grip.
