I put a Burris 2x7 ERR scout scope with Warne quick release rings on my .444 Marlin. Then I added a set of Skinner peep sights (www.skinnersights.com) to round out my package.

This set-up works well as if it begins to rain, I just pop off the Burris and stash it in my day pack, and carry on hunting.
