Hey everyone.

On Thursday or Friday of last week, TGO membership rolled past 1,000.

Congrats to the TGO Staff!!

This is especially significant in view of other boards, gun-related or not, whose administrators are constantly trying to figure out how to attract more traffic.

Just seems natural here..............:D

Yeah, we've kept up with that. I'm not sure of the anniversary date of the board, but the earliest post I could find was 16 January, 2007. So we went from zero to over a thousand in only a year.

I think that's remarkable for a small focus board - Gun owners in Tennessee.

I remember back in January when Dave was over on XDtalk promoting this little startup site, fast forward to today, and no telling how many wasted work hours have been burned, learning, discussing and arguing!

Congrats!

Congratulations, TGO and particularly Tungsten.

I'm proud to be part of this site, and I'm sure all the members feel the same way. I've been spreading the gospel quite a bit. I think I'm going to start telling all of my Carry Permit students about it, as well.

Now, let's go forth and bring in the next 1,000.

Yep, I was thinking about this a few days ago. I kind of expected member list to grow rather slowly. I figured we'd pull over a few of the tennesspeed regulars, plus a few www.Tennesseeoffroad.com and www.tndeer.com guys. Looks like we've drawn in a bunch more.

Also, I've been impressed by the general knowledge and lack of drama exhibited by the member base. Also, the mods and admins have done a great job in policing this board.

this calls for a tgo sponsord beer while carrying:eek:

Well, maybe not that, but I just read that Sen. Jackson has introduced a bill to allow carry permit holders to carry while in places that sell alcohol for on-premises consumption (as long as the permit holder is not drinking and the place is not lawfully posted.)

Also congrats to TGO. The desire of the moderators to grow the board and expand to other activities seems to have caught on with the members. Some of what we've seen:

1) Regular gatherings of TGO members in various parts of the state (especially in East Tennessee, but spreading west.)

2) TGO members meeting up at gun shows, shooting events, etc.

3) Development of a line of TGO logo merchandise sold by one of our authorized vendors.

4) Development of chat room, search bot, and several databases here on TGO.

5) Interest in developing TGO-sponsored events, shooting teams, gatherings etc.

6) Development of a growing list of authorized vendors that offer quality products and services to TGO members and who help support the site.

7) A growing list of people willing to donate funds to support TGO. (Click on "donate" on the far right of the top menu if you are interested.)

And, of course, plenty of lively informed discussion on and off topic here on the board, with many members posting multiple times per day. Some members have posted over 2000 times in less than one year!

Tungsten deserves our congratulations, but so do all the members who make TGO run. Here's to the next 1000!

I might also mention that this is one of the few boards I know where people actually buy and sell gun related items.

I keep forgetting about the chat room. :koolaid:

And just think, if I hadn't POed and scared off all the smart people who know everything about everything, we could have had 2000 members by now. Of course half of them would have been insufferable. :koolaid:

I laughed out loud at this. :D

Wow, thats nuts. Specaily since Tennesspeed, is just over 1000. and its going on 6yrs i think.

In all fairness, the actual user count over there is 4,129 as of this very moment. I have purged a lot of dead-weight members from Tennesspeed over the years.

Congrats Tungsten and the rest of the staff.

I think the big reason for the board's success from what I've seen is there aren't really any ass-hat's here. Any jerk can own a gun, it takes a special breed to spend time researching the guns, shooting, laws, and everything else included in RESPONSIBLE gun ownership.

 to the next 5000!!1111!!!11111
