5/8" X 24 threads on a .45 barrel?

Recommended Posts

I have a Beretta CX4 .45. The O.D. of the barrel is 5/8 or .625. I want to add a muzzle brake. I know that .625 is used to cut 5/8" threads, but will there be enough material left on the barrel for the pressures of a brake firing a .45ACP? If I thread the barrel, I will thread so I can use a jam nut to tighten against. The barrel is cold hammer forged steel and chrome lined. I was a machinist in the Navy and I can cut the threads, I just wanted some opinions on this application. Thanks for your time.:)

I think you may want to check on 922R compliance before threading the barrel on that rifle. I'm pretty sure storms are imported and don't have the US parts count to add "evil" features".
