Being sprayed in the face with the pepper spray might relieve your boredom a bit...providing your going to be certified for the use of oc spray. fwiw.

BTW...Don't let the student body on here know your going to qualify as a state certified security guard...or you'll become a "mall ninja" or maybe a "rent-a cop" as they have absolutly no respect for the position of security officer....Trust me on this one, dunndw.

+1 On both counts. I got hit with Freeze +p and it do suck!

Yea I think it's funny that I field more calls working as a hopsital SO in Memphis in 6 months than most small town PDs do in a year, but yet I'm a "rent-a-cop" lol

Call me Alice if you want...just don’t call me late for dinner :-) I’m more concerned with what my dogs think of me than most people I meet.

I'm using this to get more certs under my belt and to perhaps grab some part time gigs as a armed private security with a current client of mine.

I was hoping for the chance to get baton and handcuff certified, but it doesn’t look like that’s part of the training class.

Baton you'll need, but there's no cuff certification. I know places offer a "tactics" type class on how to use them, but there isn't a certification to have/carry/use them. There are different ways to do it, but the basic practice is simple. Try and always keep your keyholes up, never attempt to cuff someone until they are under control, and always double lock them.

It is a cake walk if you have any common sense and have ever shot a pistol. Be sure to get your fingerprints done electronically, it REALLY speeds up the process. After thirty days or so, call (615) 741-6382. After the prompt, select the option for "protective services" (I believe it is option 3). Ask the person on the other end what the status is of your application.

The last time I did mine it was a turnaround of about 42 days.

Hope this helps, good luck to ya!

yep...easy as pie. I decided against getting sprayed...had to run some service calls after class. 2nd day went SLOW until we got to the range. The first day was actually pretty interesting when it came to the laws/regs.

Now all I have to do is get my prints done, submit my paperwork and I'll be a certified mall ninja :-)

I'm going back when they schedule a combo day for baton and a basic handcuffing class. I was also invited to take part in their active shooter training in December. Found out that one of the instructors is LE Rifle instructor certified as well...that might come in handy if things in the wishlist pipeline work out.

Same here except it can get insane fast. 3rd shift at a hospital is either what I call "horror movie quiet" or it's full tilt. I love it though.
