Crossbow Question

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at getting a crossbow, mainly for when my daughter is old enough to go hunting with me. Do they come pretty much ready to shoot? When I bought my compound bow, I had to take it to a local archery shop and spend about $65 to get it setup. Since there aren't many (any?) adjustments to be made on a crossbow, would I be correct in assuming that they show up ready to go?

Some have sights already on them, but I would put on a scope made for a crosbow. It wouldn't be to hard to sight in and then you'd be ready to go. My nephew got one and put on a 4x scope and has killed 2 deer with it. Its pure poison at 40 yards and under.

Like roverboy said; some come with sighting devices and some don't. They are all pretty ready to go right out of the box. I put a 4x32 rifle scope on mine and it is deadly out to 60 yards. However, I like to keep my shots under 40. I have a Horton Yukon XL.

A guy at work has one for sale if you are looking to buy now. PM if so.

I thought about getting a crossbow for my daughter and having her use a shooting stick to prop it up when hunting. You should not have to worry about all the set up involved with a compound bow. Just need to sight it in with a scope or red dot.

Just a few minutes ago I ordered a pink camo Bear Apprentice compound bow for her for Christmas. She is big enough for a compound now and I decided to just go that route.

Due to a hurt shoulder I purchased a Parker Enforcer 165. Wow, split two arrows after benching in the 3 power scope. I quit shooting at the same target after that. Very light, shoots at 300FPS and Parker has a lifetime warrenty.
