Norris - New Years Eve

Recommended Posts

I think me and OhShoot are gonna try to get together at Norris next Friday(New Years Eve), provided we have decent weather. Just thought I would post it up in case anyone would like to join us.

I am also thinking about trying to get down there this weekend(off work thursday-monday...obviously can't do it on Sat.) possibly if I can find some company, if anyone would like to join me...let me know.

I may try and go just to meet some new faces.... to shoot too of course. I haven't ever been there and don't have a membership.

So what time are you guys talking about? I'm wide open.

I'll probably try to get there around 9-10(ish). Look forward to meeting you!

Just go by the Norris PD and pick up your key(and pay the $40) and your set until next July.

That weather sounds great. Looks like I'll finally be able to break in my AR (anybody want to help? :D)

I think I could mustar up enough sympathy for ya to help.... :D

I've also never sighted it in, so hopefully I'll learn a thing or two about the platform. I think I'll buy a couple hundred spare rounds, just in case. :shake:

What's the adress to this place? Can't find any info. Or will the PD tell me where to go?

Jon L,

The Range is on Upper Clear Creek Rd.

The phone number for the Norris PD is 865-494-0880.

They will give you directions/map when you go to get your pass.

Pay close attention its easy to miss.

TGO, I may try to go Friday late AM early PM.

A friend has invited me to go shooting sometime this week and I'll see if he wants to go do this at Norris Friday.

I got my Pass a couple of weeks ago and hope to use it often between now and next July.

If things work out I hope to see a few of you there.

Alas things did not work out and I won't be able to go.

As a consolation I'll be going to the Gun Show @ Chilhowee on Saturday AM with my soon to be Son-in Law.

Hope all who can make it to Norris Friday have a safe and enjoyable time.

And Best wishes for a Happy New Year in 2011 to Alll on TGO.

Well, I survived the New Year's Eve shoot at Norris. The place was utter chaos. Must have been 50 people there for the 8 benches on the rifle side and 2 on the pistol side. Folks tripping over each other to get a shot in.

Regardless, had a good time.

Near the end of the day when the crowd was thinning some manic bird dog showed up running apey all over both ranges. Up and down the berm between the two, up the ridge behind the back stop. Over and over and over in great big circles. Must have wandered up into the hills hearing the gun shots and thinking it needed to retrieve something. Dog was confused.

OS finally lassoed it and got a hold of the owner who came and picked the insane beast up.
