YHM .22 Mite Sound Suppressor

Recommended Posts

So I am waiting for my stamp to come back so I can get the YHM .22 Mite Sound Suppressor I purchased transferred into my name so I figured I would ask:

1 - Does anyone have any experience with these suppressors?

2 - Can it be used for any .22 caliber rifle / handgun?

3 - Can it be used on a .17 HMR rifle?

Thanks and sorry if these are dumb questions.

I have a Mite and like the hell out of it. If it is the regular model (not the stainless) you can only use it on .22 LR/Short/Long. You can not use it on a .22 magnum or .17 HMR. I called and asked YHM about the .17 HMR and that is what they told me.

I swap mine between several .22 LR's, both rifle & handgun, and works great on all of them.

but you better clean it after every session or you might not get it apart

Yep, found this out the hard way before I knew. :(

Locked it up so tight that I had to send it back to YHM to get it apart.

BTW, their customer service was great.

I use anti seize every time I keep some in my truck, here in my tool box and on my work truck (mechanic) but this last time it just wasnt gonna come loose I have sent it off to YHM to let them try. I think I am going to go with copper based anti seize when I get it back and see if that works better than the silver it has a higher temp rating so that might do the trick.

Might try locking the tool in a vise and using grip gloves and turn the can off. Had to do it one time with mine. Or even an ultrasonic cleaner. If you ever make it up to Hartsville just hollar at me and I should have everything you need to get it apart. I am forgetful with mine and had to man handle it a time or two.

I actually tried putting the YHM tool in the vice on the back of my work truck and using a wide strap type filter wrench with a ratchet on it and it was taking way to much force so I chickened out and now its on its way to YHM.

I have one on the way if my stamp ever comes back. It's been a little more than 3 months since I sent off my paperwork. Are you guys using anything special to clean it? My dealer told me to spray it with Rem Oil EVERY time after you shoot so I was just curious.
