gun safe recommendation

Recommended Posts

I am looking for a good gun safe. I would like one of the smaller versions, maybe a 20-25 gun safe. Don't have enough room in the garage for a 30-40 gun safe. Any recommendations? Sams has a pretty good price on a Mesa safe, but I don't know anything about one.

All of the safes you see at the big box stores are made overseas and are of questionable quality. If you want to get a good safe don't get a safe at a big box store. I see that you are in knoxville? If you would like to know where to get a good safe give me a call at The Safe House and I would be happy to discuss the brands on the market and the good and bad of all of them.

I have a champion and really like it... i have had a liberty and it was nice as well but they are prety pricy now... one thing to remember.... if you keep any amount of currency in your safe (even 1 dollar) you can write the cost off on your taxes. (just like your safety deposit box)

Just keep in mind that the big safe manufacturers generally "play the field" and provide models of varying build quality to cover their bases from a price-range perspective. The Liberty safe that you buy at a big-box-store or even a nonspecialized retailer is probably not going to be the same Liberty safe that you buy from someone who just does safes.

Construction quality, intrusion resistance and fire-rating will all vary considerably from the cheaper to more expensive models.
