My Friend

My friend had a class to learn how to shoot the being of September and tried several guns there. Then we went and rented some guns for her to try. She liked the M&P 9mm. We tried to find one but no one could get one right now. We went on Gallery of Guns and she was able to get one from them and picked it up yesterday in New Johnsville at Millers Gun and Pawn. They were very nice and she is now the proud owner of a new M&P. She has her HCP class scheduled for Oct. 22nd by the Humphreys County Sheriffs Dept..

Suggestion: Please have her get comfortable and get plenty of practice with the firearm before the HCP class. Please have her learn all the safety knowledge first (I know you will, just reminding, just like you remind your loved one to buckle up.)

Please have her use the firearm in her HCP course. I find it a great training experience. It is my hope the course will be the only time in her life she will have any stress while shooting. (The stress comes from wanting to pass the target shooting part of the class.) The point is, I want her to have the experience of dealing with a stressful situation while shooting. This way, if, heaven forbid, an event occurs where she does have to use the firearm in self defense, she will respond better.

Besides, if you are going to be carrying the firearm, why not know you can shoot it well enough to pass the HCP class? People who use the 22 rentals, well, its like cheating yourself.

And in my own experience, I found it very satisfying to shoot 100% with my carry firearm.

My friend completed her HCP class yesterday and shot very well. Now she must get to DMV to process application and get fingerprinted. This might not be until the thirty first as she has other things to do this week and won't be home to get her BC until next weekend.

She got a letter yesterday from the state that her fingerprints were unreadable. So she will have to call tomorrow and make an appointment to have them redone. When that happens the count will start again. When she had her fingerprints done they were having a problem with the machine.

When I first got my "CCP" (that's how long I've had mine - they were originally concealed carry permits and you could only carry concealed) the lady that did my prints hadn't done many and she messed them up. After I went and got fingerprinted for the second time, it didn't take long at all.....about two weeks. Hopefully she'll have hers soon! B)
