Need an HVAC guy in Memphis.

Hey guys,

I moved into a house today from an apartment. The house has had the power off for 2 months. After MLGW turned on the power, I turned the heat to 68 and left to move my stuff. When I came back it was 80 degrees in the house so I turned the heat all the way down to 50 and left for another load. When I got back, it was 90 degrees in the house with the thermostat set all the way down on 50. I have it turned completely off right now. When I have it on auto, the heat is not kicking off. The house is only a couple of years old, but it does not have digital thermostats. They are the switch that you move up and down manually.

I need ideas, or a recommendation for a good HVAC repairman in Memphis.

Thanks,

Paul

If you need to call a company I have used Collierville heating and air and have had very good luck with them. Called them about 9:00 one night in the middle of summer and they were there in like 30 minutes, had someone deliver a part to fix the issue and only charged around $75 for it all. The do service outside of Collierville also.

What kind of heat does the unit have?

If you have power on the white wire from the thermostat (24 volts) when it should be off it probably be the thermostat. If not and it is electric heat it may be the sequencer. You can most likely Google it to see what one looks like. It has several contacts stacked that come on in sequence. They can go bad and stick on. If you don't have 24 volts on the control side but have high voltage on the other it's probably bad. There may be several sets of contacts on the high voltage side.

Yup...you can install a new stat from lowes or home depot--but--when you screw it up you will pay more than a professional install. Trust me, i dispatch technicians to a "self install" thermostat at least every other week. Normally, the invoice crosses my desk at 300+
