Issues with the new software

Recommended Posts

I'm new to the forum but i've tried editing my profile photo and it says, "Failed to set a new photo ". I've tried several different photos, sizes and formats and even importing a photo from a URL but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions?

Should be working now. Please try again.

Still getting used to the new style and features. Looks good, but I'm an old guy who has trouble with changes, so I got a couple of questions. I apologize if I've missed the solution here.

1 Does the avatar picture cross over?

2 Will the last itrader stats also transfer?

3What are the pips under the avatar box.

Thanks. Appreciate all your work here. I know it must be a labor of love, but dude...this is a lot of labor.

1. Avatars should have transferred but some of them didn't for various reasons. It appears yours is one that did not, so you'll need to upload it again.

2. iTrader stats will eventually get imported back in. The author of the Trader Feedback feature here is working on an import script for us.

3. The pips increase with a person's total post count and time on the forum. Similar to the old Member, Senior Member, etc. on vBulletin.

Edited to add...

Yeah, it's a lot of work but I enjoy it. :)

Thanks for your help. Patience is not one of my strong points, apparently it is one of yours and you've done a great job.

I apologize for the PM but the feedback link wasn't working as was the settings/profile link yesterday. They are working now.

I would like read the newest posts first rather than scrolling though old posts. I would also like to see a maximum number of post per page. Maybe I missed where this can be changed or is it something not available?

Thanks again

Thanks for all your hard work, David. I think it is more the quality of the members and sysops than the features in the software. Ain't claiming that some software implementations could not be better or worse, But this software is working fine.

You and your elves have made a very good place to hang out, regardless of the software.

Will not let me fit to page. Page is too wide to see it all at once.

Thanks for any and all help.

EDITED

Foundthe answer just after posting. Had to go to "Change Theme" and check IP Board instead of IP Mobile.

Maybe this will help someone else. :pleased:

Not really an issue per se, but on vB, you had around a minute after you submitted a post to go back and edit it without it being labeled 'Edited by so and so", here even if you edit it right after you post it'll still show the edited label. Just more of an aesthetic thing since sometimes I catch a spelling or grammatical error right after I submit it. Don't know if that's something you control or if it's just built into the software like that.

Yep, I need to proofread better. :P

Seems that the timer is set too short. I'll check into it. Thanks!

The other error is pretty easy to interpret:

One or all of your search keywords were below 3 characters or you searched for words which are not allowed, such as 'html', 'img', etc, please increase the length of these search keywords or choose different keywords.

In this case I was searching for "A cat in a hat" where only two of the words met the 3 character minimum. If I just search for the words cat hat without quotes around them, it works fine. If you put quotes around "cat hat" it is literally going to search for that sequence of words separated by a space.

Yeah, I grok all that. Just that most search injuns may ignore certain input, but will go ahead and parse the rest, rather than refuse whole string.

Minor, I guess ... I actually don't spend much time searching anyway.

The old version, when signing in, I could type in my user name, tab to password, with "remember me"

checked, and it would automatically fill in the password & log in. New verision requires to type in

the password. The "remember me" feature seems to not be working.

Thanks,

Larry

What you're describing are two different things. The "Remember me" checkbox is still there but it may be called something else now like "Keep me logged in" -- I cannot remember which at the moment without logging out myself to see.

The other part you're describing is the auto-complete feature in your web browser, not our software. Since we are on different software now, that field name has changed so your web browser's auto-complete will have to relearn it. Likely by you logging out and back in once or twice.
