lever gun. attaching a sling?

Question - are the magazine tubes pretty much standard size? This will go into a 38/357 tube.

I guess they are. I pulled one off an 1895 Marlin 44mag, and gave it to another guy who put it on a 30-30 Marlin. I've only seen one size for sale, so I assume they are pretty much standard.

If yer gonna drill into butt, might as well drill forearm too. Much neater, and won't screw up finish on mag tube.

Really, little swivel bases don't look bad at all -- most all lever rifles have come with them for years now.

I have a Marlin 336 with the deer head carved in the stock. It has a sling and scope that I am reasonably sure is factory. I bought it used but every picture I have seen of the same model has a sling.
