RIA 1911 Tactical Aesthetically Finished

Recommended Posts

I'm finally to the point on the outside of this 1911 where I'm done. I still have a Cylinder & Slide sear and disconnector to put in. The trigger is a nice, crisp 5.5lbs, but I'd like it better around 3.5lbs. Eventually I'd like to throw in either a Barsto or Kart barrel, this one shoots fine for now though. There are some other fitting things that will get knocked out as time passes as well.

Here is what I'm working with:

RIA 1911 Tactical 2011

Factory grip & thumb safety

Wilson Combat oversized magazine release

Raasco Dymondwood grips

Wilson Combat extended slide stop

Novak Extreme Duty night sights

EFK Firedragon compensated bushing

Smith & Alexander mainspring housing magazine well

Chip McCormick 10 round magazine

Here's what I've done:

Fitted mag well and compensated bushing

polished the following: trigger, hammer, magazine release, slide stop, thumb safety, compensator, slide, screws, mainspring housing pin

Backfilled the sight's dovetails and contoured them to the slide

Cerakoted frame, mag well/mainspring housing, grip safety, compensator and slide in Graphite Black

Removed the RIA engraving from slide

Final product:

Great looking pistola ! It is amazing how 1911's can be personalized in so many ways. That's a keeper if it shoots as well as it looks !

It does, at least it shoots as well I can shoot it.

I had a the chance to handle a Springfield Operator, it wasn't a loaded with a full rail, but it made my RIA feel like a HiPoint. I think if I run across a Springfield Operator Loaded with a full rail I'll be thinking real hard about making my wife mad again.
