Same finger, 6 years ago:

And that injury removed the scar from a drill bit through the finger.

Needless to say my poor thumb has been through a lot.

Really? Are you into pain or just stitches? :)

You realize that we have to take away your totin' chip now don't you?

:P

Sorry, couldn't help myself, that really looks nasty. Glad they got you all stitched up, be more careful next time!

You'll soon remember just how much cr@p you bump your thumb on every day.

Yep, every time I cut a finger, that's the one I keep banging on things.

Glad everything is OK with it, DS.

Wow. Definitely hope you didn't mess up any nerves with that cut.

Sounds like that thumb has been cursed by somebody. You should definitely keep it away from sharp objects.

Hope it heals quickly with no complications.

DAAANG! That looks bad. Glad they got you all put back together though.

You know, ya gotta seriously commend the dedication Dolomite shows to TGO what with filleting his thumb, posting about it THEN making his way down the ER....

Seriously though take it easy for a week or two and you'll be back at that stock in no time.

The worst part of the whole thing is for years I have been telling my wife to use a proper tool for the job, especially with knives. Now if I could only practice what I preach.

Gun is already back together, did it the following day while the wife went to town. She wouldn't let me do anything so I had to wait for the right time.

where's your Strawberry Shortcake band-aid?? Hmmmm?? :squint:

That wound is too large/deep for Strawberry Shortcake, Dolomite NEEDS Scooby BandAids for that!

Jenkies, that looks like it might have hurt a bit. LOL Keep it clean and follow the Drs orders.

Sorry to see/hear it, those sorts of things are so frustrating (cant use your hand, and every time you forget, painful reminder...).

The proper tool isnt always the answer. My wife begged for a high dollar kitchen knife, so I got her one. Its the sharpest thing I have ever held, period... wustoff or something brand, folded steel, amazing piece. She promptly all but took off the top 1/4 inch of her thumb (it made a pretty bad cut through the nail and all, but did not hit bone, it was just above the bone).

Looks like a first class set of stitches. They just used superglue on the wife.

Dang Dolomite, thats looking all Frankenstieny.

Glad it's healing up nicely.

Jonnin, some of those kitchen knives can be down right unnessacerily sharp.

I bought Ken Onion Shun Classic Chef's knife for my wife when was complaining about not having a nice sharp kitchen knife. It was surgical sharp when we got it so I also got her a cutting glove to wear. Turns out I am the only one that got bit by the thing. I have since had to sharpen it a few dozen times and is very high quality steel. Takes a edge very well and keeps it.

Once I went through and sharpened all the knives we had after some complaining about dull knives. Well a few cuts later, between the two of us, and I decided sharpening all the knives wasn't the best thing. So I went out and bought several red handled knives so we know which ones are SHARP. I then proceeded to put a very, very sharp edge on those. Now we don't have to be as careful with all the knives, just the red handles and the Ken Onion.

One thing about the Ken Onion knife. I would definitely buy it again. It is a very, very nice knife even for the price.
