Modern Gun Belts?

PackinMama, that's what I've come to realize now I guess. A plain black gun belt with stitching and Chicago screws for an updated look is probably the best way to go. From what I've read gun belts are about 1/4 inch thick (twice as thick as my quality fashion belts), made from high quality leather that should last many years, and stitching (sometimes even gluing and kydex strips) make for a much stiffer belt that any of the regular ones.

One of the drawbacks of the kydex inserts is the kydex cant be super thick otherwise you might never get the belt around you. The kydex on the belt I have has snapped where it flexes over the buckle as a result of repeated take on/take offs. The rest of the belt is ok and no break points, but that is something to be weary of. If you find a good holster/belt maker, the right leather and thickness will be plenty of stiff without a kydex insert and likely last much longer.

Thank you, nysos. That is a VERY good point! I've found these two places to be quite interesting (also price-wise):
