Memory Card Question

I'm looking into buying a memory card for a PDA/Smartphone, but I'm confused when it comes to the difference between SD Memory Cards, and the Expansion Memory Cards.

Anyone know?

They are the same actually. ALL memory cards are made for memory expansion. More than likely, you will need either a microSD or miniSD card. Most cell phones use the microSD! Most microSD cards now come with the miniSD adapter included, as well as the SD adapter. The newer phones are accepting 4gb capacity, but not all of them. If yours is a newer phone, it may accept the 4gb (4gbHC). If you get the 4gbHC, you can only use the HC(High Capacity) reader to read it, and the HC reader only reads HC cards. It costs about $25 at Wal-Mart. I would just stick with the 2gb or less. It should hold all the stuff you need to put on your phone.

Im using a 1gb microSD as of now and have around 30 vids,50 songs,20 sounds/rings,and close to 200 pics with plenty of room to spare

Thanks for the helpful info. I was getting confused because of 2gb "expansion" card was $99.99 and the 2gb SD card was only about $30. I could understand the drastic price differences.

I have two Sandisk cards and they have worked pretty well for me.Tigerdirect also has some pretty good prices on stuff

Yea, mine will take the 4GB cards, but from what I think I understand, it won't take the SDHC type cards.

Wal-Mart here has the PNY 2gb microSD cards for 15.88, including the adapters! May wanna check at Wal-Mart first!

Does anyone have a clue as to what this wire/cable is for? There were 2 of these in the box with the Treo. It's about 4" long, and the end you can't see plugs into the charger port on the Treo. I have no clue what plugs into this end.

More than likely its for a set of headphones for listening to the music player!

Yeah,its probably a headphone or earpiece adapter.If I thinking right it should be a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter

Actually, it was to connect a 1 amp car charger.

Another question. How do I delete something off my memory card? I've searched all over the phone, but can't seem to find a way to get rid of it.

You can do it from your puter just as you would add/delete from folders in Mydocuments.

Your card should have a tab that slides back/forward that locks the items from be deleted from the computer so just slide it to unlock(kinda like the tab on blank vcr tapes)

I just broke the phone. I removed the memory card, and put it back in the wrong darn way. A very tiny piece of metal from the inside of the phone broke. I was able to get the piece of metal out of the phone. The memory card will work, but only by moving it around a bit. Then, it may work for only a few seconds, or maybe a few minutes. Either way, I need to find someone to fix it.

If it a metal piece off of the memory card then you will need a new card, if it is the phone well you need a new phone or take it to were you got it or contact the customer service for the phone maker.
