Help needed with a song about William Quantrill and his raid on Kansas

Recommended Posts

I was going through some old cassette tapes I found I had packed away......yeah I know.....and came across a few songs that I could not identify. The one that still is unidentified is a song about William Quantrill.

The lyrics goes something like "Old Quantrill came like thunder from them there hills."

I've tried search the internet but can't find anything. It was like a country or folk type song.

It came from an old recording of the Truckin Bozo show back in the early 90's.....also on the recording was Willie & Merle doing Pancho & Lefty.

Does anyone know who sang this song. My google-fu came up with nothing.

Thanks in advance.

If you ever find out let me know.  I've been hunting that recording for years.

I heard it on the old Road Gang Show on WWL out of New Orleans in the 90s.  It does have the chorus lyrics:

"Quantrill came riding down like thunder from the hills."

It is a very long folk song.  At least 15 minutes long.  I think the DJs played it when they needed a long break, lol.

Internet has never heard of it as far as I can find.
