"Did you contact your Reps to day" Roll call

Recommended Posts

Got this response yesterday from Alexander, nothing from the others yet.

Dear Scott,

Thank you for sharing your feelings regarding the tragic shootings in Newtown, Connecticut.  I was horrified by this attack that left twenty-eight dead.  My thoughts and prayers are for the victims and those who now live with their loss.

As we learn more about the tragedy in Newtown, I think we must look closely at the behavior of isolated young men who develop an obsession with violence.  We should ask the leaders of the entertainment industry whether they would want their children--or those who might harm their children--to watch the increasingly violent video games and movies that they pour into our culture.  This is not the only cause of violence in our society but it is one important cause. Connecticut has strong gun laws. The problem is not with the gun but with the person pulling the trigger.

This is a terrible event for our nation and we must find appropriate ways to respond. I’m grateful you’ve shared your reactions with me and will keep them in mind as we move forward.

Sincerely,
Lamar

I sent 2 Wednesday and this today.

The Presidents news conference 1/16/2013

I was able to listen, as a HUSBAND, FATHER,
A TRUE BELIEVER IN THE 2ND AMENDMENT, a TAX
PAYER, and a FIREARM owner.
All He did was show me just how bad He wants to
disarm the American people.
Firearm owners do not do harm with their
firearms, we protect our family's and our
country.
The 2nd was written to HAVE us defend our
self's and our country.(yes we HAVE to)
For the government to even talk of anything to
limit in ANY WAY, our GOD GIVEN RIGHT, to
defend our self's our family's and our country
is, NOT ALLOWED, PERIOD!!!
"SHALE NOT BE INFRINGED" means a LOT to me, and
should mean a LOT to you.
As you swore an OATH to defend these RIGHTS,
I expect you to do the job, as WE elected
you, WE can elect someone else that will do as
"WE THE PEOPLE" want you to.

I am a dumb country boy, type with my index fingers(hunt and peck)

Dont spell to well, and have a hard time putting my thoughts on paper

or screen.

Best I could on my own.

So my question to yall is

WHY THE HELL IS THERE NOT A 1000 POSTS TO THIS THREAD ?

Sorry, bad day, country going to hell and not enough people to care.

Thanks to those who have stepped up so far, to put you post letting us know out in the open

that yall sent something to your reps.

I did get a call from May Beavers the other night about an E-mail I sent.

As She is the ONLY one that made contact with me, I call Her a good one,  2ND Amendment defender.

I have been sending at least once a day. Just finished sending one to Alexander. Now to Corker and the others. I also did the Ruger site twice today.

WE ARE NOT OUT OF THE WOODS YET! In fact, we're deep in it.

I know it's exhausting, but keep it up and spread the word.

Called senators today. I've previously sent multiple e-mails to every politician I could think of; and have encouraged co-workers, church-goers, and family to do likewise.

I make it a point to thank gun-related businesses for their support, specifically if they've made news while supporting the second amendment. I invited Remington to move to Tennessee. I've responded to polls and petitions out the wazoo. I've bought more gun stuff. (Don't tell my better half!)

Not likely to make Nashville tomorrow, as we already made other plans for Gun Appreciation Day. Will try to at least hit the local gun shops.

Getting things like this.... Dear Mr. Xxxxxx Thank you for contacting me about legislation to ban certain types of firearms and ammunition. I appreciate hearing your perspective and am happy to respond. December's horrific school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut left twenty innocent children and six brave adults dead. This tragedy has rightly focused our attention on what we can do to prevent violence like this in the future, and I am willing to consider any proposal that will keep our children safe, regardless of politics. Nothing is more important. President Obama has appointed the Vice President to lead a task force charged with proposing "concrete solutions" to curb gun violence. The Vice President announced its recommendations will be presented to the President no later than Tuesday, January 15th. I look forward to carefully reviewing its proposals, and will be sure to keep your thoughts in mind going forward. I encourage you to keep in touch on this issue as proposals evolve in the coming months. Thanks for sharing your views with me. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me again with any other questions or concerns. Sincerely, Jim Cooper Member of Congress

And this .... January 14, 2013 Dear xxxxx Thanks very much and letting me know what’s on your mind regarding the right to bear arms. I’m a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights. Congress should not pass laws that take away these rights from law abiding citizens and leave criminals to terrorize the streets. Good citizens don’t abuse guns – criminals do. I will continue to support legislative efforts to protect the Second Amendment rights of law abiding Americans, and oppose efforts to overturn the Second Amendment. In two recent cases, the U.S. Supreme Court clearly held that the Second Amendment protects the right of individual Americans to keep and bear arms. In the 2008 case, D.C. v. Heller, the Supreme Court held that D.C.’s restrictive gun laws violated the constitutional rights of Americans. Two years later, in McDonald v. Chicago, the court struck down the city of Chicago’s handgun ban and held that, like the federal government, state and local governments must respect Second Amendment rights. I joined legal briefs in both cases in defense of this constitutional right and was pleased with the Supreme Court’s decisions. I am grateful you took the time to let me know where you stand. I’ll be sure to keep your comments in mind as Second Amendment rights are discussed and debated in Washington and in Tennessee. Sincerely, Lamar

I've sent Corker, Alexander, and Desjarlais several emails. Only heard back from Alexander. I have no experience with calling, but am open to do it. Actually, can anyone give me the best way to do that? I suppose call their office and leave a message? Is that what to expect?

Alexander's DC office. (204) 224-4944

Corker (202) 224-3344

During business hours an aid will answer the phone. Chances are the senator is not available to talk to you perdonally. Leave a message with the aid. After hours leave a voicemail. Be sure to tell them you are a TN resident and an active voter.

Then... do the same for the other 49 states! :) Edited by Batman
