If ya'll can get off the Spartacus-esque "rights and freedom" issue for a bit, you'll see that this is a good thing.

Seems obvious to me that the TN political conservative majority, such as it is, is trying to help us keep our frigging guns.

Conspiracy? You gotta be kiddin. Seems obvious to me. It's simply ...

Politics. He has skills from a previous life.

That's the word.

I've actually dealt with them a bit even in this incarnation. For money, even. But I think I'd recognize this one even if I hadn't. Sticks out like a hanging curve ball.

By the way, that's not a bad epitaph to sum me up. Been meaning to make a will, hmm....thanks!

Actually, better, just smart man and wise guy  ... even age hasn't necessarily bestowed wisdom, I'm afraid.

Or even better, cut to the chase: smart ass and wise guy! That's it!

In a bureaucracy, always assume there's more than the immediate logic would suggest, and always assume whoever makes the action has strings to compel it. You may not always be right, but assuming otherwise, you'll generally be wrong.

I agree with this statement partially. You see I don't have a different set of rules for different sides of the political spectrum. I actually have a naive view that people should try to do the right thing in all cases, but I'm probably alone in this.

This was definitely a top down decision and it was definitely meant to quell Mr. Yeager's speech. The folks who made the decision are very smart people who know the law (DOS Commissioner Bill Gibbons' wife is a federal appeals court judge and he is a former DA) and know that what they did is illegal. However, they also know (unlike regular citizens) there is no penalty or consequence built into the law for this illegal action. So, unlike you and I, they may wantonly violate the law without any fear of personal penalty. I personally find that to be far more dangerous and distasteful than anything Mr. Yeager did. Unlike Mr. Yeager, who somewhat acted out of stupidity, this was a calculated action made by the government itself.

Takes a little intelligence to be guilty of the charges as stated, (or as OS says "smart man" in place of wise).  I believe they are spot on.

That could very well be, but it seems there is too much fear going on in the wrong direction. We shouldn't be the ones in fear of our government, nor should the state be in fear of the federal government. It is supposed to be the other way around, I thought. and I don't much trust that so-called conservative majority. More like a bunch of rubber bands stretching in all directions.

When you have money being held over your head, it becomes extortion from one entity to another. Of course when the play money runs out, soon, it won't matter. I only put this in because that is the fearmonger.

Stay on this PR crap and we will lose. There is no amount of PR that will override a liberal in a basement on a PC typing loud and often, much less trying to overcome the MSM. If you won't recognize tyranny, in all it's forms, you can't fight it, nor will most even look for it.

So apparently the guys at the ENDO blog have a nickname for James based off of his eerily similar appearance to a LGBT porn star named Buck Angel who is apparently a female-turned-male (via hormone replacement therapy) and has the appearances of a man with the naughty downstairs bits of a woman.  The guys on M4Carbine were quick to point out this blog entry the other day and then someone asked for clarification on why they call James "Buck" and, well, the story unfolded.

I tell you all of this so you won't go Googling "Buck Angel" because I'm sure it's not pleasant.

You can see their Buck Yeager meme at the bottom of this blog post.  No, that's not James.  But damn they really do look alike.  The main point being, the blog gives a pretty succinct bullet-point break down on what has transpired.  And the meme makes me laugh.

Edited to add:  There's been a lot of talk about his history in Iraq.  I don't have a dog in that hunt and am not going to Monday morning quarterback something that I wasn't present for.  I'll leave that to those of you with active combat experience to judge.  My beef is and remains the fact that as a prominent member of the civilian firearms training industry (whether or not you like him or agree with him, you can't argue that he isn't known) he really fucked the rest of us good with his lack of filter in the first two installations of the "Pack Your Bags" videos and offered himself up as the most useful idiot possible to the gun-grabbing antis.

Just wanted to clarify my position on this as all of these conversations seem to have taken on a lot more complexity than what is necessary.  None of this is about Route Irish or his AAR; it's about screwing the pooch so publicly, so grandly, that it plays straight into the hands of everyone who wants to make a case that his appearance, demeanor, words and intentions are indicative of all gun owners and are exactly why so-called assault rifles should be banned.

That's my bitch here.

Let's look at the results. As soon as this happened, James came out with a very sane video that totally agrees with the other sane folks. Then... he shut up. The news media dropped it like a hot potato because they have NO USE for sanity from our side. I would call that mission accomplished. Sorry for James that he was inconvenienced, but he needed a good slap.

Yep, I figure he will slide thru this with no permanent damage. If he was in a commie state, he would probably be sitting in GITMO right now.
