TN Bill to remove restrictions on knife possession and carry

Recommended Posts

Thanks to all who worked hard to get this passed!  It will be nice to be able to purchase/carry a knife based on design, purpose and utility rather than making the decision based on an arbitrary length limit.  To be honest, in the past I have been hesitant to carry a knife with a blade length even of a full four inches just to err on the side of caution.  The new law will open the door to a much wider range of useful tools, IMO.

I wonder too about machete. I carry one a lot in the truck for the farm clearing low branches and sticker bushes, not to mention creepy crawlers if needed.

Yeah, I usually always have my Condor Golok machete in the truck. I use it on my farm all the time. Funny thing is, I think of it so much as a tool that I never really considered the 4" limitation. I haven't carried my KA-Bar and other long knives because of the law, but I've had a machete with me for years, lol. Edited by Batman

Glad to see it finally passed! I've carried my full size Ka-Bar for the past 3 or 4 years now (legal in Ga., kept it in truck when in Tn). It's a great feeling when someone asks to use your "pocket knife" and you pull out a ~12" knife :)
