This explains how to load ammo into the stripper clip.

At one point, AIM Surplus had good stripper clips.  I don't see them on their website any more.  I have heard that this type work well.

Here are some for $19.99/20:

These are original surplus ones for a bit more:

The BEST way to get them is to buy some surplus Soviet-bloc ammo already packed in clips. I bought 2 crates of 1950's surplus a few months back and I'm pretty set for stripper clips now.

A spam can of the clip-equipped rounds usually contains 300 rounds, which comes out to 60 clips per can. Don't confuse this with the non-clipped cans, which usually have 440 rounds per can.

All the ammo I've ever bought was just the rounds wrapped in brown paper in the tins. I've never found any that came already in the clips. It's probably much harder to now anyways with everyone buying everything up.

I saw Aim Surplus sold some like this, but they've been OOS for awhile. I'll have to keep an eye out for some to pop up somewhere.

Thanks, checking it out now.

Have to say, they kill you on the shipping. Ordered 880 round crate of 7.62 from SGAmmo and the shipping was still cheaper than what JG is charging for a single tin. I thought maybe it was just a base shipping price, add on another tin and it doubles. Ouch.

Yeah, they do kill you on the shipping, but they are the only ones that have any of this ammo in stock currently...and the 60 clips are worth at least $60, so that makes it a little better

I once got some shiny chrome ones from CTD, before I knew better; they're stiff and almost impossible to use. OTOH, I bought a spam can of 1953 Polish from Aim a couple of years back. Clips are a rough gray paint, but they work very well. The ammo all went bang, too.

Moral: get a spam can on strippers and don't look back.

Saw a post on surplusrifle last night about a guy who just opened his Polish spam can, found it full of water and ammo/clips severely corroded.  He claimed it was completely sealed (hard to believe), water was packed in before sealing.  Maybe some Polish factory worker expressing his "solidarity"?...

agreed. Grab it while you can. Surplus ammo-- even Soviet-bloc stuff-- is not infinite in supply. The price per can is really not that bad considering the "bonus" of gaining the clips. the shipping charge does suck though...

Well
that went fast.  I checked the line a couple days ago.  In stock.
Today the page is gone.  If you go and browse in, they don't have them
only the 440 cans.

I was going to buy a can, maybe they will get more.

Searched the web some and didn't fine any currently in stock.

If that's the case, he's luck it was water!   :puke:
