Disassemble Surefire 620v Scout?

Recommended Posts

I have a Surefire 620v in the gear classifieds for trade. Ideally I would like to swap across for the exact same light, only in black, which got me thinking... Can I completely take apart the flashlight and refinish the metal parts? I was thinking of useing a black spray that hardens to a matte rubber. The mil would not be thicker than a med spray paint coat. I would want to feel confident that I could completely disassemble the light first though, so that I could accurately take off all moving joints(threads, etc). Where could I find info on how to do so? Thanks in advance!

On second thought anybody know of an EXCELLENT dura coat man? I have a black SCARH I would love to have a smoke grey tiger stripe applied to kinda like this(but better):

Here's a dura coat SCAR I saw online, I would want the colors mentioned above in a tiger patter and I would want much better results:

The Scout can certainly be disassembled. However, if you're going to refinish it then you might want to mask off the lens and do it with the light in one piece. That way all the threads and internal parts are easily protected, instead of having to mask them all off.

Just my  :2cents:

My problem is that with the ir/white feature there is a lock bearing ring that I can't figure out how to get off. Also, didn't want the switch button(standard base) to get any paint. Would be pretty straight forward if not for that pressure ring for the ir/white selector. It is the grooved area on the waist of the head as seen below. To change modes, you push forward on that ring toward the lens, and rotate 180 degrees and when you release pressure it locks back down.
