Gun Companies Boycott New York: Urging all Manufactures to Stop Selling Firearms to New York Police

Six firearms manufacturers have joined together in an effort to protest New York’s unconstitutional firearms laws. Barrett Firearms, LaRue Tactical, Olympic Arms, Extreme Firepower Inc, Templar Custom and York Arms have all stopped selling firearms to all New York law enforcement and government agencies. A number of them are also starting to call for an industry wide boycott on any state who bans civilian ownership.

The boycott is in response to New York’s latest efforts to strip the American public’s 2nd amendment rights.

President of Olympic Firearms put out the following statement:

Legislation recently passed in the State of New York outlaws the AR15 and many other firearms, and will make it illegal for the good and free citizens of New York to own a large selection of legal and safe firearms and magazines. We feel as though the passage of this legislation exceeds the authority granted to the government of New York by its citizens, and violates the Constitution of the United States

Due the passing of this legislation, Olympic Arms would like to announce that the State of New York, any Law Enforcement Departments, Law Enforcement Officers, First Responders within the State of New York, or any New York State government entity or employee of such an entity – will no longer be served as customers.

Olympic Arms invites all firearms manufacturers, distributors and firearms dealers to join us in this action to refuse to do business with the State of New York. We must stand together, or we shall surely fall divided.

LaRue Tactical put out a press release that read:

Effective today, in an effort to see that no legal mistakes are made by LaRue Tactical and/or its employees, we will apply all current State and Local Laws (as applied to civilians) to state and local law enforcement / government agencies.

In other words, LaRue Tactical will limit all sales to what law-abiding citizens residing in their districts can purchase or possess.

The recent boycott seems to have been inspired by Ronnie Barrett, owner and CEO of Barrett Firearms Manufacturing. Barrett Firearms, the company that manufacturers the most popular .50-caliber weapons in the world, refuses to sell firearms to any state that bans the civilian ownership of their firearms.

Barrett was one of the first to put the 2nd amendment above profits when he stopped selling to California Law Enforcement, after lawmakers banned civilian ownership of his high-caliber rifles.

At the time he wrote:

“It’s hard to believe we live in such a dark time that someone has actually banned a single shot rifle. But as you will see, this is the cleverest of all gun bans, and the end goal is civilian disarmament, the confiscation of your tools of liberty, your rifles…” He goes on to say, “Barrett cannot legally sell any of its products to lawbreakers. Therefore, since California’s passing of AB50, the state is not in compliance with the US Constitution’s 2nd and 14th Amendments, and we will not sell nor service any of our products to any government agency of the State of California.

While many of these companies will no doubt lose some revenue, it’s good to see them finally standing up to the law makers who are trying to take away our right to keep and bear arms. If companies like Glock, Smith & Wesson and SIG Sauer join the fight, we may actually see some of these States start to back off.

Only time will tell whether these larger companies will put the second amendment above profits; they have the power to help, and they should let state and federal authorities know that if citizens can’t buy them, the government shouldn’t be allowed to either.

I figure it will when the political dumbassery extends to ammo regulation.

I figure that's probably right. But I wish they would go ahead and do it now. It's too late when the shtf to start thinking about prepping. Sad part is the cops get caught in the middle. it's not their fault the legislators are DAs. But it's the only real course of action they have.

No, the cops are not caught in the middle.  The cops can use the same arms as the citizens.   We have absolute "because obama & co. said so" proof that all an armed citizen needs to stop a gang of criminals from killing them is a revolver.  Cops are better trained, so they also only NEED a revolver, heck with all that training a single shot pirate gun is all such skilled marksmen need.  And, we also have asserted that NEED (as determined by a random third party, in this case ME) is what matters with the 2nd ammendment, not wants or desires or even a "cushion" in case of unforseeable happenings.  Therefore, proof positive, all a LEO needs is a 5 shot revolver, if that.

WHEN the police and other "enforcers' VASTLY outgun the citizens you have a POLICE STATE.

Single action to boot, since any gun that cocks itself is evil.

York Arms Cancels All Its New York Police Orders

Based on the recent legislation in New York, we are prohibited from selling  rifles and receivers to residents of New York.

We have chosen to extend that prohibition to all governmental agencies  associated with or located within New York.

As a result we have halted sales of rifles, short barreled rifles, short  barreled shotguns, machine guns, and silencers to New York governmental  agencies.

For “civilian” customers residing in New York: At your  choice, we will:

  • Complete your order and  ship to a dealer of your choice outside of NY.
  • Refund your payment in  full.
  • Hold your items here for  up to 6 months, at no charge – if you are in the process of leaving NY and  taking residence in another state.

For LE/Govt customers in New York: Your orders have been  cancelled.

True, however... You can pass all the laws to the liking of a liberal but, they don't mean a thing unless you have enforcement and funding.

It will be interesting to see which side LE will take on this unconstitutional issue, as it will probably be a litmus for other state LE actions me thinks.

While it is nice to see this one of 2 things will happen:

1) the Feds will just buy the guns and give them to NYC

2) the BATFE (or whatever initials they are currently using) will visit with them to "review" their licensing. When the ATF leaves the IRS will be waiting in the parking lot to come in and investigate some reporting irregularities. The EPA will be by next to audit the site to make sure there are no issues with hazardous waste etc. Finally, for the big boys someone in the Pentagons procurement division will be by to explain that there might be some pending issues with that big contract they have.

It is fairly predictable...

The cynic in me just has to agree with this, but...It would thrill the crap outta me to see arms and ammo manufactures stand with us on this!

Until the manufacturers who actually sell firearms to New York follow suit, this doesn't mean a whole lot. If Glock, Remington, Colt, Smith & Wesson all were to jump in on this, then it would have some teeth.

If any of these companies did this, I'm sure they could sale the extra inventory on the private market, and most likely for more than what they can sale them for to the LE/Govt. It would probably effect the bottom line somewhat ... but in this current arena, I certainly would appreciate some big corporations standing up with us. I'd be first in line to financially support any company that followed suit.

If the big corporations don't stand with us, their market will shrink to just law enforcement. They better ALL wake up and join the party, especially since King Peanut Head is gonna end all war. The gun manufacturers have a dim future without us. The war on guns is a war on guns.

Glock will soon say they will take no part in this.

that would be the icing on the cake... would LOVE to here that come to surface... along with Colt, S&W, Remington, Ruger... wish everyone would get in on this... Trijicon, EoTech   EVERYONE!

Exactly. It’s easy to say you won’t sell guns to NY LE or other states that pass gun laws; when you don’t sell guns to LE anyway. I’m not saying it’s not a good thing, but if S&W, Colt and Glock refused to sell to them; they would get the guns anyway.

All it would do is damage the gun companies that actually sell guns to them. Does anyone think for one second this would cause Cuomo/Bloomberg or any other state to back down? Of course it wouldn’t. And would private buyers pick up the slack if they did participate? Of course they wouldn’t.

Guns and Ammo and reloading companies are the ones that need to ban cal and NY , and even move out of that state ,the tool is no good with out ammo . Then all the gun owners will move to a different state , wonder how that will work for them and its economy , lets see no jobs no state tax revenue , that would be a big chi ching in the pocket book. And when Thay wine we can always say HOWs that working for ya NOW.
