New FY2014 Senate Budget Suprise, Gun Related & the U.N.

Recommended Posts

Those "Nay" voters should all be fondly bidden farewell at their next elections.

On a happier note, I was very pleasantly surprised to see Alexander and Corker vote against the bill.

It shows they voted for it or did miss something.

Did you know that Senator Jim Inhofe from Oklahoma attached ammendment 139 yesterday to that prevents the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.    Way to go!  I believe this bill has passed both Senate and House.

Amendment to the Senate budget bill, right? (link says search is timed out).

If so, bill is almost certainly DOA when it gets to House.

In other budget news, Rand Paul may well have ended his presidential bid today by proposing a GOP version. Even though it has zero chance of passing, it calls for raising retirement age and slashing military even more, which of course no Dem or GOP pol can run on, and it will come back to haunt him.

I don't think any budget bill will matter, since there has been only continuing resolution spending going on

for four years, so far. Instead of Senator Inhofe putting an amendment like that into something that is supposed

to be appropriations only, he might consider fighting each fight the old fashioned way: fighting it head on.

These guys are really sickening. They are only trying to pull the wool over our eyes by giving themselves some

kind of phony political cover, instead of dealing with what is in front of them, head on. It's exactly the kind of thing

that causes their own popularity polls to plunder. House and Senate alike. They're for something one minute and

against it the next.

Anyway, appropriations bills are supposed to originate in the House, aren't they?

Budget is different, can go with what president submits, but never happens anymore, so House and Senate each formulate a budget and vote in their own houses. Of course the Senate has not done it for 4 years.

Whenever they get one passed, it's still only a resolution, not a law, and isn't truly binding anyway, as then those appropriations of yours can be enacted at any time.

It's just a big shell game, now ya see it now ya don't.

Lets try this again, it is a resolution and not an actual bill of law, but it is symbolic since the demorcatic controlled Senate votes to approve an amendment preventing the U.S. from joining the U.N. bill.

This is the amendment that was voted on and passed that was attached to S.Con Res.8

S.Con.Res.8 Senate Budget FY2014, passing the Senate on 3/23.

Yeah, thought that was the case.

But it's not gonna be the budget bill that passes, if one ever indeed actually does. Maybe we simply will quit doing it since we haven't had one for 4 years anyway, and even when we do, it's not written in stone either.
