Yea

I had a guy PM me wanting a pistol I was selling and wanted me to ship it to his home, said he would pay me an extra $100 for the trouble.

LOL said I needed to mail it to his FFL and havent' heard from him since.

He had 0 posts to his name too

Probably was the same one who PM'd me about a gun I've got for sale. Told him that it was in the hands of an FFL at the RK gun show at Smyrna last weekend and he would have to go thru him to get it and he never replied. I deleted the PM and I don't remember it. Might recognize the name if I saw it.

I think it would be a good idea to limit PM's.

I will post it here,

He asked to purchase my PT140 from me.

Wanted me to bring it to him for $50 extra or mail it to him for $100 extra.

I told him it would have to go to his FFL and havne't heard anything from him.

I ended up banning the guy in question since it was obvious that he was soliciting members to engage in illegal activities. I'd rather police incidents like this as they occur rather than lock down the PM system such that new members can't use it.

Thanks to all who reported those PMs. :D

He could have been a LEO, they do this on some gun forums looking for people to bite..

I had a guy PM me and make a point of telling me he lives in Alabama but could pick the gun up here. It could have been an innocent mistake on his part or it could have been the ATF…. Who knows?

Thanks Tungsten for fixing the problem without making everyone else suffer. thumbsup.gif

Obviously a joke, but just the act of accepting money for a transaction like this is enough to put you away for a while.

If you took the money and didn’t send him the gun you could find yourself dealing with the Postal Cops on a fraud change. And if you sent him the gun you could be dealing with the AFT on an illegal transfer and then the Postal Cops on using the mail in the commission of a crime.

Unless you were already a criminal I doubt you would do time, but I would guess you would end up with a felony conviction and fines and attorneys fees in some pretty big numbers.

I’ve seen al kinds of stuff posted that could get you busted. Like disassembling a firearm and sending it in separate packages somehow makes it not be a firearm. :D
