So Nixon was just ahead of his time with regards to doing dastardly deeds? :)

True enough but at least Nixon wasn't trying to destroy the fabric on the country,

Nixon's tenure and downfall sorely damaged the power of the presidency. It really wasn't until W, under the direction of Cheney and the impetus of 9/11, that the power of the presidency became dominant again.

Then we got BHO who's totally disabusing the power and we have a week legislative branch at this time...sooo. Look what we've got. Screwed.

The Nixon WH staff were pikers compared to the OHoles administration.  Problem is that the press truly Hated Nixon while today's press bends over for the chosen one.

Your kidding right? I guess the left is right when they say Reagan is old news and his ideas of "peace through strength", Supply Side Economics which led to a 25 year growth that was the largest in this Nations History, dropping taxes on business who created jobs by re-investing, that sort of thing, bringing to bear firepower on our enemies within hours of our enemies committing actions against the US, building our 600 Ship Navy (Which is soon to be smaller than it was prior to WWI), completely modernizing our military,  bringing down the Iron Curtain, handling public unions the way they should be handled and a ton of other things. I suppose George W Clinton Obama II got it right after that disaster that was the Reagan Administration.

Under Reagan 9/11 would have never happened in the first place. Unlike Clinton, Bin Laden would have been "accepted" from Yemen when he was in their custody, Reagan and Gingrich would have seen to that. Unlike W, the Patriot Act would have never been signed. No need, under his watch our enemies feared us and our friends respected us, not since Reagan have either done either.

Reagan was able to forge a working relationship with the democratic congress. He was and possible always will be the anomaly. A man with a vision that could sell what he dreamed. In our history those are the exception and not the rule.

By today's nomenclature, Nixon WAS a RINO neo-con. The party split a few years earlier with Goldwater's massive defeat-- The Goldwater libertarian wing briefly gained ascendancy just in time to get clobbered by LBJ and the main stream media. After that debacle, the "country club republican" wing took the reins and ran Nixon.

Nixon continued LBJ policies. LBJ started the "guns AND butter" policies which led to the 1970's stagflation, and Nixon continued the "guns AND butter" policies, ensuring that the stagflation would be long and crippling, lasting about a decade.

Nixon is the last president to my knowledge who enforced long-term wage and price controls, which did nothing to help the stagflation, because the problem was "guns AND butter", too much spending, rather than too-high wages and prices. For those Ayn Rand fans, what is any more similar to her nightmares than wage/price controls paired with "star chamber" presidential manipulation and coverups?

Too bad we don't have a press that wants to find out the truth behind this scandalous and corrupt pos in the WH like they did with Nixon. Nixon's guilt was like petty theft compared to Obama's organized crime that should be prosecuted under the Rico Act, followed by Congress prosecuting him for treason. If Nixon was alive and able to run for POTUS against Obama, I would gladly and easily pull the lever for Nixon.
