Obama offers new gun control steps

Recommended Posts

The lawyers ain't going to go for anyone messing with trusts. The trust is a magical thing that is put in use by many individuals for many reasons I can't see anything new going through that will kill or change the way a trust is used.

It's also kind of funny trying to visualize a convicted felon buying a gun under the name of Acme Corporation etc. most bad guys that get guns get them from other means than gun shops. The bad guys that commit mass murders and serial crimes with handguns are usually mentally deficient by normal standards. This whole subject has been beaten to death over and over I don't think it will go anywhere Unless Obama wants to incarcerate the mentally ill and Legally prevent felons from starting corporations

I have a dream and omama ain't in it.....

Oh look, Obama is acting like a 5 year old that isn't getting his way.  We all know that those evil Garands are the root of all the problems with drive by shootings and mass murders, and really, how many criminals are going around setting up companies to buy NFA items? Not like you can just walk down the street in the ghetto and get a gun.

Wouldn't this only affect Mosins that were made in the US (Remington, I think)?

Other Mosins which were made abroad wouldn't be affected.  Right?

It's just all for show, nothing more. Of course you all know this.

When you or I picture the weapons he is talking about blocking the importation of, we know they look like this:

However, most of the people that are supporting Obama and generally think like Obama likes them to are picturing this:

M249.jpg

And even possibly this:

Twin_M2HB_machine_gun.jpg

(Not that there is anything wrong with those:)

So, now you will have all sorts of people claiming that Obama saved us all because he blocked the importation of "military grade weapons" that would have been used by all sorts of madman against fellow Americans.

Politics as usual. Interested to see what will become of trusts and whatnot. However, I have a question for the President, if this "loophole" was so little known, why is it such a big deal to close it? I guarantee that those registering NFA weapons to this "loophole" have caused less innocent bloodshed than a certain group of people that has watched that one movie with Vin Diesel and all those cars a few too many times.

Explain please.

OK. I may be showing my ignorance here but this is how I understand it:

Earlier this year I purchased an SKS. I was interested in putting a tactical stock on it but as I looked into it, I found out that certain SKSs (of which I believe mine to be one) count as "Curios and Relics" and except for certain approved modifications, it is illegal to change out the stock fittings including the stock, the bayonet and the grenade launcher or adding a magazine with some quite nasty penalties. It looked like there were also some quite complex subtleties to the whole thing and in the end, I decided it just wasn't worth messing with (I quite enjoy it in its vanilla state anyway so no biggie).

you can change it but it has to be 922r compliant though I'm pretty most people who put their sks in a tactical stock probably don't know this or don't care, I for one wouldn't worry about it but that's just me

There are 922r considerations, but not C&R.

Might want to post this up as a new topic in the proper forum.  I imagine an informative and likely lively debate will ensue on the subleties of 922r compliance.

I've heard from a reliable source, that Obama is going to sign an EO to allow the UN to conduct gun safe searches via IR satellite surveillance.....and you don't even have to roll down your driver side window.

Hmmm googling how to block IR scanner...

And the answer would be enough of any dense material...like lead.

I think some are confusing pursuing an agenda with being "dumb"....I don't consider Obama to be "dumb"; just a very dangerous socialist, tin-plated dictator-want-a-be with delusions of godhood driven by an overwhelming desire to push an agenda and somehow be "relevant".

I agree, but sometimes pursuing an agenda the way he's doing can end up being "dumb" in a lot of ways...besides its just funny to see someone compare his intelligence to that of a fishin' worm.

So the implication to milslurp collectors... This sounds like it includes just US made guns that would have been reimported by private entities. However they can still be reimported to the US government who in turn distributes to CMP. Foreign made collectables can still be imported? Do I have that correct? As stupid as these EOs are, how bad is this for collectors, really? I know we don't have all the details yet, but I'm just trying to get a grasp on Hussein's latest attact on our freedom.
