Starbucks caves

When someone carries a pump shotgun or rifle in a business, he is asking for some kind of trouble, unless it is a gunsmith

or gun shop. A civil society doesn't need the constant "in your face" like some of these clowns try.

Wearing a tee shirt would be better. Concealing your weapon doesn't cause anyone any grief, unless your belt is too tight.

You could even say they need a big black stick upside their head :)

I feel like some of you are falling for the line from the anti-gun people that the sight of things scare people and so they are bad. What ever happened to peoples actions? In those pictures all I see are smiling people. If a person came in not smiling, acting really weird, I would say their actions warrant concern. But if they are smiling and do no threatening, aren't they harmless? Why is a person carrying a gun peacefully different than a cop carrying a gun? Both could go crazy and kill you, there's nothing special about law enforcement. Crazy is crazy, not crazy is just another human going about their business.

BTW, I have seen a lot of gun advocates today call these OC'ers crazy, lunatics, dicks, etc. However, there are plenty of people in this country that would call those people the exact same thing for their "moderate" views on guns. So before you throw these OC'ers out as hurtful to the cause and crazy, just remember that the people we are all fighting view you as no different.

I knew this would eventually happen.  Granted, Starbucks has not banned guns from their establishments.........yet.  But they have now made it clear that they do not want to see guns in their stores.  Banning them outright will be the next step if we don't lay off them.

I hope all the open-carry attention whores are happy.

Me wonders if some of those open carry people might have been plants by the anti gun people.

Seriously this started cause the anti gun people found out Star Bucks was gun friendly so they wanted to boycott.  Then the pro gun people wanted to show off their guns.

Not that I go to starbucks but a couple times a year, I was always concealed and no issues.

Now, as long as they don't put up signs it is ok just don't draw attention.  Serious, they drew bad attention.

I see cops all the time at various places I visit.  I have yet to see one walk in with an AR or shotgun in their hands.  I think there is a world of difference between open carrying a handgun on your waist versus a long gun.

Nope. They were OUR idiots

Since you guys are hell bent on blaming open carry why are not not lobbying to have the law changed to concealed only?

If this was about open carry Starbucks would have asked that we only carry concealed. They could have simply banned open carry.

Great post Mike.

Let me be clear, the people in the article bringing long guns into the store is a completely different issue which I don't agree with. To be honest, I wasn't aware it happened that many times.

What is annoying to me is the fact that people here are lumping all the OC crowd into one group which really isn't any different than what the bed-wetters due in regards to gun owners.

Has anyone banned anything, Erik? It is a symptom, not necessarily the whole cause, but one that is undeniable.

You know that old phrase, "we are our own worst enemy"? It applies a lot of times. Approaching a problem using

reason and logic will go a long way before acting like a LGBT parade in San Fran will. The open carry crowd is

often very similar in actions to the crowd in San Fran. It isn't necessarily blaming them, but understanding cause

and effect opens one's eyes.

No they're not. Open carry is one thing. Carrying to make a display is something entirely different. I don't care if somebody open carries. I may do it myself sometimes.

Why is everyone trying to split hairs on this? Saying they don't want guns in the store is no different than posting signs. Both send the same message.

I completely agree with your 2nd sentence about OC being a symptom and you're right, it wasn't the entire issue.

I have a question, let's say that no one had ever OC'd into Starbucks but instead carried concealed and thanked the employees like many people did. Do you not think Starbucks would have eventually reached the same conclusion?

My guess is that the events Monday in DC had as much to do with this as anything else(notice the timing) and they would have released the same statement.

I'm not splitting hairs. I'm just responding, Erik. To your question about Starbucks reaching the same conclusion, I doubt

this would have come up because of the DC thing. They are not related. Starbucks probably got tired of the struggle

between two completely polarized groups and tried to appease both by the way they approached the problem. Starbucks,

more than likely, only wants to sell coffee and scones(well, and some hippy music cds). I think they want your business,

rather than being in the middle of a serious debate over the 2nd Amendment.

I have no problem with anyone carrying openly, except for the clown who wishes to make a spectacle of himself. There

are ways to not look like you're the cowboy badass of the moment trying to further an agenda. Respect of others is a

good start.

Not sure I follow? Are you suggesting that carrying concealed also provokes the libs?

It's the provocation that I don't want. Sometimes, a little discretion goes a long way, Erik. It's kinda like some of the stupid

things cops, gays, Al and Jesse's, etc do. There are more reasonable ways to assert an opinion or position about anything.

It's the thoughtful, respecting one who leads by his own example, that usually will win, if allowed to.

Well, in the article Mike posted, the guy smiling while carrying his shotgun didn't look like a cowboy badass to me, just a plain ol' jackass.  :)
