DHS raiding store for counterfeit Coach bags? DHS? Really?

Why Department Homeland Security?  I keep seeing story this on the news and can't find the connection between homeland security and counterfeit purses.  I bet the DHS went in with guns drawn, flashbang and full on SWAT team to get the purses 'secured'.

More of the police state action?

A lot of people and organizations fall under DHS.  And you know what, GOOD ON THEM for raiding that shit.  Counterfeit products should be gathered up and burned.  People's intellectual property is being stolen and money is being taken from them.

Not to mention all that fake garbage being sold on the secondary markets, ripping off more people.

I bought a Magpul MS2 sling that was counterfeit.  The only way I could tell was the package had a lot of misspelled words.  And when I can find a misspelled word, the spelling must be real bad.

I agree the store needed to go but I would bet that DHS went in like the raid in Waco, Tx.

Well there's a place in Clarksville that just got busted which was being run by some Chinese folks; Coach is suing them for $2 mil.

I'm pretty sure that's the same place.  I saw it on the local news this morning.

Well, believe it or not this falls under a Secret Service function. The Secret Service falls under the DHS, so there is nothing unusual about this.

Yup.  I have a buddy in SS.  Routine stuff along with counterfeiting and kiddie porn.  Same division of labor that existed prior to the SS falling under DHS heading, so no tinfoil needed here.

It's all about empire building, which is what the government is all about. During our lifetime I will bet we will see the "Papers please" gestapo here in this country.

We already are seeing it.  Where I grew up the Border Patrol controls a stretch of highway that stops every single car, truck or motorcycle for the purposes of finding out who is a us citizen.  It's 100 miles from the Mexico border.

I have one of those fakes on the way.  Got it on Ebay and when the shipping notification stated China Post, I knew I had bought a fake.

Now to see how bad it is when it arrives.

You might be onto something.   Maybe since 9-11 they have figured out ALL terrorists have fake Gucci bags.

If this is the case then it would seem DHS made a logic error ... ALL terrorists having fake Gucci bags does not imply ALL fake Gucci bag owners are terrorists.

Then again, its a government agency.  I shouldn't even mention the word "logic" in this discussion .... or anywhere near it ....

my bad ... carry on.

(LOL) - sorry ... severe lack of sleep this week ...

So the point of this thread is to rail against something DHS may or may not have done?  Simply you don't trust them and you bet they went in like the raid at Waco?  Seriously?

It's empire building when an agency goes after the people they're supposed to be going after?

I hope they keep on keeping on with the raids against counterfeiters and counterfeit importers.  I doubt you'd be happy if you had counterfeit parts or tires on that nice truck in your avatar.  How about that ripped off MS2 sling?  Those are people stealing from an American company...and stealing from you when you bought the fake sling.

I don't know about their role in raiding companies, but I do know there has to be suits filed over copyright and patent

infringments by the company being infringed. Has that occured? Usually private companies use the courts to deal

with problems like this.

Do me a favor and show me anywhere in this thread I sympathize with the counterfeiters......

I have no use for counterfeiters. However, people making replicas of a product and selling it under their own name, I am all for that, assuming the replica doesn't infringe or can get around someone's patent, copyright, trademark, etc...  We should all be for the later because that is free market capitalism at its finest.

Let's use the Coach bags for an example.  If Coach doesn't have their designs protected, and another business comes along and copies their bags almost exactly except they are calling their bags Couch, and they undercut Coach by 50%, well... that is fair game, and Coach is just s.o.l.  Now, if that same business called their bags Coach as well, which I am certain is trademarked, then that is an entirely different story.

I'll show you post number one where you bash on DHS for going after counterfeiters.  As was stated by multiple people, a lot of organizations fall under the DHS umbrella.  It's their job to go after people doing things like this.

That or the point of this thread was to sow discontent because:

...I would bet that DHS went in like the raid in Waco, Tx.

and

I bet the DHS went in with guns drawn, flashbang and full on SWAT team to get the purses 'secured'.

You're just blatantly making things up so you can show the world/TGO how much you despise DHS and the Government because you "don't trust them as far as (you) can throw them."

As a former sworn 5 year employee of the DHS I can tell you they abuse their power EVERY single day!  I got sick of it and quit.

I would bet a months pay they went over and above with FORCE, like I have seen more than once.  I now work beside them and only see them in action 3 to 4 days a week, 48 weeks out of the year.

You're just blatantly making things up

Flame baiter.
