I would not believe anything from the Examiner website,  Their reputation for accuracy is.........well.........they have no reputation for accuracy. It is a website of blogs rather than legitimate news stories.

Besides, the story reads like it is fake.............and it's in the Astrology & Paranormal section of the website. So, yeah.  :-\

I have been looking through the nuclear forums on Linked-in.

There are tons of conversations about Fukushima , including the exponential increase of feral cats at the site.

But none that I see on the topic you mention.

Good thinking there RBert, I checked on the physics forum and they said it is probably some anti-nuke people spreading misinformation and were trying to make it look like the recent earthquakes were caused by underground explosions.  They're actually still working on the site and obviously wouldn't be if they had a meltdown, the forum had a bunch of links to stuff I didn't understand plus the news releases from the Japanese power company overseeing the work.

Maybe, accidentally, the Japanese are about to nuke us back.

They already have.  The cloud of radioactive dust that was thrown up into the atmosphere crossed into North America not too long ago.  I've heard stories of unusually high level of radiation detected in snowfall out west.

Humanity survived atmospheric and sub-sea nuclear weapons testing, and will survive this.

BTH, I saw news reports screaming about radiation levels of 1.8 Becquerel per liter (of radio-Cs)  - basically two disintegrations per minute per liter of water.  To put this in perspective, that is less than natural background levels overall, and is less radioactive than a banana.

The professional communities response over all this reaching the USA is expressed in terms of :snore:

I do like the price of fish dropping.  I have been eating better.

Agreed, the levels of radiation are of no consequence.  But they're greater than zero and the media knows they can prey on the public's ignorance and irrational fear to get a few extra hits on the story.
