Your workbench??

some of those work rooms look to be in the basement or in the corner of the garage, how do you keep the temp controlled in them. I have been working on my area that I have set up and is in the garage, and has been getting colder than an old witches teat, I do fire up a large propane heater and it will do the job so it is always fluctuating from very cold to comfortable.

Thanks

Furnace is a must in my opinion if you work in a garage a lot. I probably spend as much time in the garage as the house.

I converted my Modine NG I had at my old house to Propane.

I have mine in the garage as well and run a propane heater, I usually start it 30 minutes to an hour to warm it up.  There is no other way to modify anything to have it more insulated and there isn't a room in the house I can do it, but was wondering what impact it might have on the reloads with the fluctuation in the temps of the brass during the reload process.

Thanks

I insulated my garage, door and all. It stays at 65 in the winter with a 110v space heater. I do my reloading in the house.

i was thinking about insulating my garage doors,is there a kit? or do you have to build from scratch? any suggestions appreciated

Yes. Owens corning makes one. I modified my installation a little, but the kit works as is...

Note that it requires two kits for a 2 car door. I used some 1/4" pink hard foam (fanfold) insulation as well to sandwich it into the door. Makes the door lots quieter too.

You can use the kits or replace the door. When I moved into this current house the garage door was damaged so when I replaced it I just went with an r18 insulated clopay door. I'm super happy with the difference vs the kit insulated door that was here when we moved in, but if it wasn't already damaged I doubt I would have thought to look into replacing it.

Where did you get the short rope light that's attached to your press?

I just saw one at bass pro near the reloading supplies a few days ago when I was there.  It is made by Hornady specifically for the LNL press, but I am sure it would work on a Dillon just fine as shown.

The kit door with the hard foam is only R9. Seems to be good enough, but R18 makes it as good as an insulated wall.

I just installed this kit in my doors.  http://www.doorinsulationkit.com/

Super easy to install with the exception of the top panels, which are a pain because of the bracing across the top of the door.  I'll be honest and say I'm a little disappointed in the result.  My garage stays a few degrees warmer, but it's not the 10-15 deg I was hoping for.  I'll reserve final judgement until the summer.  My doors face south and it gets blazing hot in the summer.  I'm hoping they'll do more in that regard.

Thanks Hozzie! I'd like to get some to run underneath the shelf above my bench as well but i'd probably be better off buying full size rope light for that ;) I got a few halfway decent pics of my temp setup that i'll try to post.

The pics are a bit crappy but give a decent idea of what I've got going on. I've got a couple more projects going in the house (one of them being an overhaul of the upstairs, new sheetrock and all) but as soon as they are finished i'll be installing my security system in my shop so that I feel comfortable moving my man stuff out there. I've got materials to build a pretty wild reloading area out there. anyways,

Starting this thread brought good luck.  We just found a home that is perfect for us with a full walkout basement for my man/gun cave.  Moving March 3rd. Once settled in hopefully I can get with someone to maybe show me the ropes on reloading now that I have room.

Can't speak for Mike's specifically but we insulated the doors on my in laws house and it made a profound difference. There's was a finished out basement and is under ground on 3 sides. The summer sun would beat the doors to death for a large portion of the day and if you got within 15' of the doors you could feel the heat rolling through. We used two layers of the shiny aluminum looking stuff that feels sort of like bubble wrap. It made a huge difference in the temp in there. They sold the house shortly after but I think my fil is still kicking himself for not doing it years earlier.

EDIT: I realize that I was rather vague, I was speaking of garage doors.
