Thought I had better address this before someone saw the OP and thinks it is me, Psychiatric related and something to do with the recent death in the family.

It's not, I was hoping someone (And they did, with knowledge), would take a look at a video and tell this numbnuts he needs to see a Doctor and/or Specialist. And he will. I figured a Doctor or Nurse telling him "Hey numbnuts, go see a Doctor" he would, rather than being told to by a Retired Tanker or an Accountant. It worked. Oh, and they didnt say numbnuts.

Thanks again to all who responded.

Just tell them to look it up on WebMD. From sunburn to hangnail, WebMD will always tell you you're going to die if you don't see a doctor.

Yep!  You go on there searching about a headache and you'll leave the site 30 minutes later thinking you have stomach cancer

I have had friends go to the doctor feeling great and just there for a check up and they are sick and dying 30 minutes later according to the doctor. If your not sick when you go you will be by the time you leave.................jmho

I have no idea what you're trying to say.  Can you clarify?

I can tell you, my Doctors hate nothing more to hear than "I saw on WebMD where......"

I could tell the first and second (Last time and forever) I did it. They got this look like "Hey dumbass, IM A DOCTOR AND I AM HERE!)

I have to admit though, if it were me on the other end I would HAVE to ask "So you learned more in 20 minutes on the web than I did spending $150,000 and 10 years learning with another "whatever" years doing it, amazing".

Yea, that would be my response.

I had a buddy that felt great and just went to his doctor for his semi annual checkup and chest xray and the such. Was there about an hour and before he got out of there the doctor had tests ordered for him at local hospital and he said he saw something on the Xray that didn't look good and this and that and he scheduled a battery of tests and had him scared to death before he got out of the office. He was so worry that by the time he got home he was a nervous wreck. For about 6 days until the tests he had all these bad things running through his head and he called me a few times and I tried to calm him down. He kept saying " I don't understand it, I felt great when I went in and now I feel terrible hurt all over and just feel bad". He went for that battery of tests and they found exactly Zero wrong with him physically but as for his mental state his entire personality changed and he is just not quite the same as he once was. I am not the only one that knows him has seen the diference. Hope that clarifies what I was trying to say.

I get depressed going to the doctor for routine visits, when there is nothing new wrong which needs attention. They ask about all the old things that are still wrong, which they can't do anything to fix, which just gets me thinking about such depressing stuff for the rest of the day. Ruins the whole day and only generates more income and paperwork for blood tests and such. "Patient is just as messed up as he was on the last visit." :) Edited by Lester Weevils

Bersaguy,

I don't say this out of spite or meanness but I can't fathom the fragile psyche of a man that is irrevocably damaged and depressed just from some tests and worry.  I get it while they're in limbo waiting on the results but not enough to permanently damage them for the rest of their time on this earth.

There are different reasons that these tests can be shotgunned out...some good, some bad.  Remember that we live in a litigious society, making a diagnosis isn't an exact science (counter intuitive, I know), symptoms and signs often overlap and share similitude, etc, etc, etc.

Bottom line is that if you notice something abnormal (or think you do), you have to rely on tests, judgement, training, and skill to get to the root cause.  Nothing is 100% in medicine.

Not to sound all knowing as I'm sure there are Doctors and Nurses in here that would run circles around me.  I'm just getting started in my BSN so I'm at the point where I know enough to be dangerous.  I hope your friend can adjust and get his personality back to square one.

My primary care guy in Knoxville was pretty cool, we used to talk about junk all the time and he was telling me that one day he broke.  Person comes in and says "blah blah blah and on webmd it said I may have blah blah blah" He said "well hell, if you already know what's wrong, why did you come in to see me?"
