I suppose "feel sorry" is not the right thing. Finally got to see a Specialist (Pretty fast actualy considering how long it normally takes to see one of these specialists, but they listed me as urgent and got me about right in), and what she told me after doing her tests shocked me. (Surprised me actually)

She said "This is not caused from your diabetes, yes you have foot pain from your diabetes and neuropathy but that is to be expected, but not your arm, side and leg". So I said "Guess its from all of those thing I did in my younger days, all that "stuff" we went over. She looked at me and sorta grinned and said "No probably not".

I wont go into detail on what it is, no need to. My final diagnosis amounts to one single thing.................(Drum roll).........................OLD AGE.

I am not OLD, im only 51. But what it is comes with "aging". I asked if there was something else I could take, her answer "Nope, your already taking it". I was prescribed a medication a week ago that works 50/50.

But.............All this because of AGING!? Are they freaken kidding me? Nope.

But after what I was told it reminded me of something. You all might recall Dick Trickle shot himself to death last year. Right afterwards I read a great article about Trickle. Sterling Marlin and Dick Trickle are my two favorite drivers, (I still wished Marlin would come back), afterwards I contacted the writer through Facebook to tell him how much I liked his article and asked when he was going to do one on Sterling. ("Sterling who was the answer). The guy wasnt a Sports writer, he was a human interest writer and said he really didnt mean to write any sort of Sports article but Trickle's story should be told. This was right about the FIRST TIME I thought the Docs had cured me. Those meds only lasted a couple of weeks also before they stopped working, but I told the writer, "Damn shame about Trickle because there is stuff out there that works". He said Trickle and his family tried everything. Nothing worked or only worked for a day or two and stopped working and Trickle just got to the point he couldnt handle it any longer.

What the Doc told me was exactly the same thing Dick Trickle had, same Chronic pain from the same thing, and very common because you start getting old(ER) and good chance you will end up with it in some form or another. One of Trickle's daughters had died, but his family believes the reason he did it was because he could never get rid of or get any relief from his Chronic pain. I am not going to do anything like that, I am going to keep myself busy, super busy. I find that being busy keeps my mind off it for periods and along with the 50/50 meds I can get along well enough that it wont bother me a lot, now that I am pretty much convinced it isnt going away any time soon (Apparently they can fix some of it with surgery but I think I will not opt in for that).

But I can tell you it can make you do stupid S___ just like a couple of members here said. Just look at Dick Trickle.

Just something to live with. Plenty do, and Im not special. So I just will.

I remember a member here saying a while back "Getting old is not for the faint of heart". Thats a good notation to keep in the back of my mind, since I am not even old and already seeing the effects.

If that's true, then there must be a cause for the pain, beyond just "age"?

It is, what it is, is caused by "getting older", in many casesm, but not all. I dont have any of the other underlying causes, at least havent seen any. Spinal Stenosis. I have pressure on the spine and will be taking some tests to look at spurs and some other things. There are some things I can do to relieve some of it. I have some more tests to take but considering this speicialist has near 30 years in the business Im pretty sure she knows her business.

You have a positive attitude towards it and I believe your right. Keeping busy is the key. I've got some spine and spur issues that are on the cusp of being bad(to your level) I'm 5 yrs jr so it's a matter of time. I have found that when I'm taking it easy for too long it acts up, the muscles relax then the bones take over. It's not good for sure. Cautious continual activity is the best for me. Edited by Ugly

When I reached about 40 went to the old country doctor complaining of new random mysterious aches and pains and he laughed and said, "Might as well get used to it because its not going to get any better."

As I think garufa said, "Growing old is not for siseies."

However, we can minimise the suffering by cultivating careful dietary habits-- Eat more fatback!--
