Ready for that dreaded day???

Recommended Posts

I got a call from the family CPA this afternoon. I must be doing something right this year.

First time in about 5 years, we actually will not have to pay Uncle Sammie and the infernal service.

Think I'll celebrate by buying a box of ammo or two.

As someone who's been self employed for 25 years I am always amazed when folks talk about getting money back from Uncle Sam. Like it's a gift or something.

No kidding.  I swear, if everybody had to pay taxes like self employed folks do instead of through payroll withholding, there would be a revolt within a fortnight.  Writing that check every year makes me want to drink.

All my income from 2013 came as a 1099 and my amount due is enough to put buying a new long gun on the back burner for a while.

Been there, done that, had the t-shirt. But had to sell it to survive.

But...working for yourself is, or was for me, the most satisfying time of my work life. Just not the most profitable in the long run.

Depends on how you look at it. I got first refund in maybe 10 years myself, overpaid quarterlies. Reason is bad though, didn't make much money and also assumed official Geezer Status.

I bought a WASR. :)

Last year was the first year I took my return and bought something nice. This year, and every year before, it goes into an account, just like it otherwise would if the IRS hadnt stole it. I agree, taxes shouldn't be taken out of one's paycheck. All Americans should have to write a check for what they owe at the end of the year. Things sure would change in regard to all these well intentioned bleeding hearts. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I was hoping that all the new deductions I have this year would eliminate me having to send more to the IRS or to Georgia.  Wishful thinking, but it is less, so at least it is moving in the right direction.  :)

Makes you wish you got an "Earned Income Tax Credit", EBT card, free cell phone, free lunches for your kids at school, housing assistance, WIC for your babies, unemployment for 99 weeks, or any of the billions in corporate welfare.

Or you can pay your taxes.  45% of us don't have to, and live on the 55% that do.

In my mind, this is one of the BEST things we could do to turn this country around.  Take out the withholding, get everyone real good and pissed off come the next April, and watch what happens.

Good point ... I've actually tried to talk my wife in an "on paper divorce" (would still live together and be married), just so as a single mom who can only work night shift part time we could qualify for some of this American hand-out.  She won't do it ... and needless to say, now that I've put my plan out on the internet, we'd probably end up in jail if we did it. Oh well ... I was only 25% serious anyway ...

Refund? Whats that? I'll be sending a phat check to uncle sugar on 4/15 - as Napoleon dynamite says - "Dangit"

Also haven't seen a refund in several years.

I always send my "Redistribution of our Wealth" payment to the IRS on April 1st - - - Fools Day.

Its sort of a sick joke on myself.  :puke:

It worked out surprisingly well for me this year as far as a refund.

Got a $347.00 federal refund and spent it on a s/s Ruger 10/22 carbine with a trigger job and after market bolt release. Total cost including sales tax, Tic, etc. $350.00.

Most expensive hand held club I've ever owned :ugh:

Mine were a mess this year. I changed employers, had a HSA account, made more money, and got two w2's and a 1099. I came out alright but it took me a month to figure out how to file. They write the tax laws in a language that looks like English but it sure don't read like English! Sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee
