I've been a flash-hider guy forever, looking at muzzle brakes

So I'm putting together this new AR and wanted some input from others on muzzle brakes--preferably integrated with a flash-hider. I was looking at the Rainier Arms XTC but I'm lost here. Everyone keeps saying to get a Battlecomp but $150 is out of my price range (I'm feeling under $70--is that unreasonable?).

Something I do have to say is that I'll be running a 14.5" middy so it will need to be 1.5"+ so I can get the legal length.

If you want similar performance to a Battlecomp at half the price look at the Spikes Tactical Dynacomp. I have both and can't really tell a difference between the two. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Or take a look at the goguns talon. It looks pretty good too! I just dont know if I can buy one that uses a beer sitting on the barrel of a rifle as proof of it working! Lol. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

The PWS brakes work really well. That is the same style that comes on the SCAR 308, and the recoil is very mild. I can also attest to the effectiveness of the Miculek.

No one will want to be beside you at the range with either of those two.

I've got a Smith Enterprise to sell (not trying to sell it through this thread, I'm a benefactor and will do it through Trading Post if I sell it through TGO,  ok?).

Anyone used one? Guy in one review I found on Brownell's says it's better than his Miculek.

I have a personal range so I won't need to worry about other shooters, unless it's a self-defense situation (I can't think of such an extreme scenario where I'd need to grab my long-arm, but I've never shut out the possibility)

I have experience with the Battlecomp 1.5, Benny Hill Rolling Thunder, SJC Titan, and Miculek brakes.

Most effective is the Benny Hill with the SJC coming in a decent second.

The Miculek is good enough (great for the money) but won't work on your 14.5 if you're doing a pin and weld, since I don't think it's long enough.

The Battlecomp was a waste of my money, and hurts terribly since I have it pinned and welded on a Daniel Defense 14.5 barrel, and the only way I can get back to good is file for SBR and cut the barrel down to 12.5 and start over. (Sort of planned to do this anyway, though, and just leave a can threaded at the end of my handguard.)

Has anyone heard of the Manticore Nightbrake Muzzle compensator?

The NightBrake is highly regarded by the AK pistol crowd where recoil manageability is needed. I have run them on several AK pistols and they flat out work.

Sometimes I just want to say screw it and get an A2 on there.  If I'm pinning/welding a muzzle device and then I'm not happy with my choice, then it would cost some money to replace it.
