Cool, but would need one hell of a backup chute option to get me up there. As a skydiver I know first hand the many, many things that could go wrong with the main chute or weather such that you would transition from James Bond to Wile E Coyote in just seconds, and then they would need a metal detector to find your dental fillings amongst the debris.

Heck. I bet even an old fart like me could handle that.

Of course you'd probably have to sedate me to get me in it alone.

It would only be at the wrong end of a gun, that I would ever be in it.

This is really probably a pretty safe rig - at least as far as these things go.  It's essentially an upgraded vehicle option to a powered wing.  Stability wise, you should be in pretty good shape.

So, so long as you have an appropriate environment in which to pilot the vehicle, and so long as you don't do something stupid like try and drive it off a cliff before deploying the wing your chances of dying are probably low.

The real danger with this class of experimental aircraft right now is that you're prohibited from carrying passengers.  The real effect of that ruling is that the learning curve is pretty steep because of the issues that creates with instructors being in the same vehicle as students.
