Does it matter who owns the gun?

I moved here from Michigan - a state with some goofy gun laws - so my questions may seem equally goofy.  When it comes to a handgun permit to carry in Tennessee, does anyone care who owns the gun being carried?  For instance, if my wife gets a permit, must she own guns in her own name, or can she carry mine?

It mostly matters if you are a felon in possession (regardless of who the owner is)

HCPs in TN are not restricted to models & serial #s by owner, so yes, with  HCPs, you and your wife may share a gun.

TN has no such thing as a gun registry. Guns are considered private property & can be sold, traded, or given as you wish so long as the person can legally own it. (No violent felons, must be 18 years of age to own, 21 to carry, etc...) Like stated above, you & your wife can share guns without issue.

Just to clarify: You may carry ANY handgun that you legally possess.  You can borrow a gun from your neighbor and carry it as long as you legally possess it.

You generally have to be 21 to carry...  there are a number of exceptions in TN to that rule.  Minors can carry loaded firearms including handguns in certain situations...  and 18-20 year old who have a valid permit from another state can carry legally in TN as well, as long as they're not a resident, haven't worked full time in TN for 6 months, or if they have worked here their state has a reciprocity agreement with TN.

In the 14 years I've been here, there's only been a couple of Augusts that have really started to step into the "unbearable" territory. I'm less fond of Aprils. Pollen and mosquitoes (not too many mosquitoes yet though)
