Something big is getting ready to kick off

Recommended Posts

I live in an area where it seems as though we are a route for aircraft, both military and civilian, so seeing and hearing aircraft overhead isn't all that uncommon. Every day we hear aircraft but most are civilian aircraft. Well starting about four days ago there has been a constant hum of aircraft flying overhead. In the past four days I have not gone more than 30 minutes without hearing, or seeing, several aircraft flying over head. Civilian aircraft sound different than military aircraft and every one I hear now sounds like military aircraft. I have also seen Chinooks heading to Knoxville. And for those that do no know you cannot fly a Chinook overseas directly. It must be loaded on other aircraft and then transported.

Now I understand summer is the time for all the National Guard to be training but this is more than just training.

Now the last time we have seen this amount of activity was in the weeks before the invasion of Iraq.

So who wants to speculate as to where we are going. I say we are going back into Iraq or possibly, as much of a bad idea it is, into the area of Ukraine.

I also had 2 Chinook's fly over my house in FL about 2 weeks ago. I've never seen anything like that near my house. All the neighbors came out to watch.

Seemed to be an isolated incident though. I'm not ready to put on my tinfoil hat just yet.

Funny you bring this up, I have never seen those Osprey planes before, but just last weekend seen half dozen, not in a pact, but solo about 10 min separation with same flight route. Those have a weird sound.

Every evening when Kasey and I go for our walk after supper we can hear different types or Military Aircraft flying from east to west in the direction of Fort Campbell. Heard Chinooks several times as they have a sound like no other. Hear Osprey several times also as they also have a sound all their own. Have not hear many smaller aircraft. Mostly Troop and equipment transports. Did hear a few C130's a couple times but they were headed towards Nashville , probably to National Guard Airbase in Nashville but not sure......Wasn't Obama the guy wanting to cut our military costs and just about "GUT" our Military last year and they have been giving our military equipment away to small town police and now they may need it all back.................

Seen several of these around Smyrna lately as well as more military traffic than normal.

There's another Warex in hunter liggett next month. Im leaving there now and they had around 7500 troops on ground for it, with several squadrons of apache and blackhawks. It's a safe guess they may all be being shipped out west. Edited by c.a.willard

A friend of mine works near the Air Port in Maryville. He said the air traffic hasn't changed much. The only thing he's seen out of the ordinary was last Sunday there were KC-10's doing touch and go's the entire day.

Where is MajorKong when we need him?

Not saying something is or isn't going on but training flights of KC-135 is one of the more common sights out of TYS
