300 blackout barrel

Recommended Posts

I'm not looking to break the bank on this barrel, having said that...I'm looking for a 16" barrel for an AR build. It will be suppressed shooting heavier bullet weights (180gr plus). What twist rate, gas port length, gas block do you recommend? There are so many different brands out there I'm having trouble deciding. This will be used to hunt smaller game with and thus will be shooting non FMJ bullets.

There are a lot more barrels with pistol length gas system with a .750" gas pad than in the past.

The reason I go with an 8 over a 7 twist is with the heavier bullets an 8 twist will let the bullet tumble while the 7 may not. And a 1.4" long bullet tumbling will create a larger wound channel than any subsonic hollow point ever will.

What barrel manufacturer?  I know there are a lot of barrels out there that will fit my need without spending huge bucks.
