Armalite AR-31 = 0.30 MOA

Went to the bookstore to eye-ball some propaganda and came across this article on the AR-31 by Armalite; they show this little rifle got 0.30 inch 5 shot group at 100 yards.

I find that quite impressive for a rifle I consider pretty cheap shooting factory loaded ammo.

Thoughts?

I don't have personal experience with any bolt rifles for long range beyond a Savage 10fp. I have read a bit from others who claim to have experience with FN SPR bolts. Reddit's /r/longrange loves them. Best out of the box rifle on the market seems to be their viewpoint over there.

I'll stick with my accuracy internationals. :)
Never been a fan of armalite. Personally, I think they suck. Not going to beat around the bush there.

Why do they suck IYHO?

I only own one Armalite and that is my AR50-A1B. It's heavy as hell and not very portable, but it's accurate and built like a tank.

Just a personal preference. Don't like the looks or style of them. Handled a couple different ones and they just aren't for me. Personally, they feel outdated. Everyone's updating their design with keymod, quick change barrels, folding stocks, interchangeable parts, Ect Ect. They are listening to what the market wants. I just don't see armalite keeping up with them.

It's like the age old debate with 1911 extractors. Internal or external. Everyone likes internal because it's the original design. But external works better.

Why not go with that works better and keep updating and making a product better?

I get armalite did lots of updates to this gun and others to try and be competitive, but it's just not enough, and seems to me it's been like that for a long time with them.

Anyways, that's just my personal opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

I had a chance to shoot a Accuracy International last summer. I have been around a long time and I've never shot anything like it. It took a week to get the smile off my face. I agree with 173rdABN, If I had the money AI would be the one I would get.

I sold the AW to a really good buddy of mine on here and kept the AE MK3 for my daily personal use. Wish I kept the AW. Had the 14.5" barrel with SAS covert suppressor to make it a true AW Covert as well. At least I still get to shoot it, and have the AE MK3.
