Pissed off another hippie today.......

Recommended Posts

I will be honest, if I hadn't been on a Buy American, Buy Ford kick for the last several years, I would drive a Subaru.

As a matter of fact, the main reason I didn't go to the Subaru dealership before I bought my Mustang a few years ago is that I was worried that the second I got behind the wheel of the BR-Z that I would have been lost, and visions of prancing ponies would have drifted away into a smoky sideways haze.

Can you jack it up this weekend, just to make my inflammatory statement valid?

What if I said please?

Naw, it's for pulling my travel trailer. I don't have a use for a jacked up truck anyways. I never saw the point unless you got land to play on. I do resent the cost of diesel due to the tree-hugging hippies requiring ultra low sulfur refining. And no, I don't want to roll coal either.

I've owned 4 Mustangs with the latest being a 2013 BOSS 302. Some would look at me and think mid-life crisis and be wrong too. At the end of the day I don't care what they think just as no one here should care what I think of their cars.

Funny that you say that as FORD & SUBARU are both high up on my list of small SUV's to look closest at when we decide to replace our current HYUNDAI

I drive a lot of rentals getting back & forth to work and the rentals that have impressed me the most over the last couple of years have been FORD & SUBARU

Although I was not overly impressed with the new FORD EXPLORER while that look great I was not pleased with the blind spots caused by the pillar placement...

There's nothing wrong with a Prius....long as there's a TGO sticker on the back.

I got passed today by a Toyota Mini Van, I was talking smack under my breath, but when he went past me I suddenly felt ok. His bumper sticker said "the best form of gun control is to use both hands". I instantly liked him.

BTW: just like this pretentious %#*+ ran her mouth to Caster about his gun, there have been pretentious Prius owners running their mouth to pick-up owners about fuel consumption. One case in particular was in front of the guy's kids appearing to try and bait him into hitting her so she could level charges. She got up in dude's personal space to provoke him.

Any specialty models? I had a 2008 GT500 boosted to 650 HP too.

No. I am not a fan of specialty models, I feel guilty for tuning on them and ruining the percieved collectors value. I don't think I have really owned anything really rare or desireable. Couple of t-top Foxes, but that is it.

I have never owned  Mustang II, but I have owned all other generations. My current daily is a `13 V6, because 300+ HP and 30+ MPG is really awesome. I have owned a lot of Fox Chassis. As a kid that was pretty much all anyone hot rodded in my neck of the woods.

My first car was an `82 Notch. So it has been ongoing for a while.

Well you have to admit thought that pretentious opinionated azzhatz live on both sides of the fence.... Myself I simply try not to let the stench of someone else's poop stink up my day....

When someone says hippie driving a Prius, I get a vivid picture of the kind of person they mean. They could just as well be a hipster, environmental whacko, or some other kind of commie-pinko-socialist clown. Likewise their car could just as well be a Subaru or a Smart car or a VW Beetle with a flower vase. I know what kind of person you mean right away.

I drove Kias for almost 10 yrs because they were good on gas, didn't cost an arm and a leg, and were surprisingly good safe cars. I'm blessed enough to afford to drive something more comfortable and useful now. That happens to be a full size truck, but if I were still broke and you saw me in a Kia, I guarantee you wouldn't think I was a hippie.

I guess what I'm trying to say is if drives like a hybrid AND it leans left like a liberal, it must be a hippie in a Prius, LOL.

Do people who think they are saving the world understand the battery they charge in their car came from the side of a mountain? i do like hybrids but people who think they are saving the world with hubrid and electric cars are ignorantly blind

You nailed the short-sightedness of most electric/hybrid car drivers right on the head!! Not only was the materials for their battery dug up from the ground, but over 2/3 of the electricity they use to charge the batteries comes from burning coal, natural gas or some other fossil fuel (source).

Not all Subaru owners are like that. I'm not a Subaru owner (yet) but my wife wants one when we move out west. Well, at least an all wheel drive of some sort to deal with the snow.

You know they make F150's and F250's with 4x4...just saying...

When there was still ice on the road on my daily 140 mile round trip daily commutes,  I can't count how many of those I passed on ice; since they were driving like grannies in the cleared lanes.

I can't count how many passed me those weeks either; mainly because they didn't. Subaru's AWD is insane.

The charge in the battery comes from braking, a significant portion of it anyway.   It is also powered somewhat by the gas engine, same as a normal battery.  Its not like you plug it in every night or something --- you don't do that.   You can plug in to top it off but that is rare and more of something you need to do if it sat unused for months.

Its not about saving the stupid world for everyone that has one.   It simply costs less to operate under many conditions, ESP. stop and go town-traffic type driving.   It gets close to double the MPG of a macho v8 truck under "trip to the grocery store" type driving habits.

I could drive my dad's old galaxy 7 liter which has a black hole in its gas tank and STILL be more green than these soccer moms in a prius anyway -- but I can't afford that kind of gas at 2 bucks and up / gallon.    Their kids .. grandkids ...etc will burn more gas than I could even in that monster.   I could waste everything I could afford to and still outgreen the ones that whelped lol.  And if you want to see the blank stare... explain THAT to one of these regressive greenie types.
