AR lower and AWB

Recommended Posts

I'm probably going to swing by Guns and Leather this week and pick up a DPMS lower.

I have absolutely no desire to build my own but I just can't afford to buy one that is already built right now. Assuming that any new AWB is going to be similar to the old one, is there anything else I need to purchase before it is banned?

I think it's way too early to panic. There is still plenty of time left to acquire components before a ban goes into effect, and to avoid paying the insane fees that panic is driving.

That said... magazines are going to be a commodity as well. Stock up on high-caps between now and any potential ban. Ammo would also be a good thing to buy.

Yeah, there is a long way to go, a long way. If he can even come close to getting it done (it will be a HUGE struggle), it will be a while before it happens. Verbal is correct, mags are good, ammo and any parts you may need.

Let the post election panic settle and then buy.

I'm getting a little tired of the tin-foil-hat brigade.... Show me where the sky is falling and I'll buck-up, but this is getting old...:P:tinfoil::tinfoil:

How does being worried about a potential assault weapon ban mean I must be wearing a tin foil hat???

I think some people are too quick to play the "he must be wearing a tin foil hat" card when they see something that they don't agree with.

There is nothing the Obamanation can accomplish for at least 12 months. He's one man. It's going to be a big fight to push anything through the 2nd Amendment and he's a very political animal and pretty much parrots what the popular line is. Our money is best spent on the NRA. Money is best spend supporting political weapons such as the NRA/ILA now, than buying the toys they'll someday want *start by stopping them, not buy anticipating them*

The prices have gone up due to supply and demand and profiteering by some vendors. The fact is, buyers are reaping what they themselves are sowing right now in the form of higher prices and shortages.

His party's priorities don't have guns that high on the list (but they are on the list). They are more concerned right now with taking your earnings and giving them out to people that feel entitled to compensation without contribution. Worry about your pay check and big brother wanting to take care of you.

Every gunboard I belong to has at least one thread about stock piling, and none of them seem to have a thread about stopping the threat. And what's the good of stock piling if you can't buy it later? I'd rather spend my money now to buy it later.

I will remember the vendors that have taken this opportunity to run up their prices during this time of panic and I won't do business with them again. Spikes? are you reading this? $95 dollar dealer cost 60 days ago, now $129? For a dealer to keep his margin, that means our price went from $120 to $150.00. I for one am done with this manufacturer. They were cool looking receivers, but not that cool.

I just stroked a check tonight for the value of 5 receivers to the NRA/ILA. I'm not buying receivers, I'm buying power to allow me to continue to buy receivers when and how I want. I suggest you all do the same.

I went by to see Joe and Dan yesterday. I am in their area about every 10 days on business. I picked up a couple of small items, including one box of 10MM ammo. The ammo was new 10mm @19.00 a box. For those that shoot 10mm it is real cheap. I picked up a TI stripped lower at 129.00. I have been thinking about a build for a long time. On top of this they gave me the TGO discount. Their prices are the same if not lower than they were 2 months ago. Most of the gouging seems to be on-line or at the gun shows. I have visited a few "gun stores" on my route in the past week.I have been offered some really good deals at these traditional stores.

Just my .02 for what its worth.

Yes, Joe and Dan at Herogear have some of the best prices in the state, spend a lot of time with their customers to answer all questions, have a wonderful selection of weaponry and are just generally great people. They have a large selection of AR lowers and firearms. I bought my TI lower from them and a dozen or so guns this year. Heck, if you've got the time, they've got everything you need to build your AR right there. Strongly recommend.

I really appreciate what you said, and you are right, I would rather pay now for the right to buy in the years to come.........but, the NRA didn't stop the other AWB, why should I think they can stop a new one.

I am a member of the NRA, and support the cause as I can, but I just don't think they any match for a democrap President, and democrap controlled house and Senate.

I hope to God I am wrong, but right now I just don't see it.

The last AWB was not from a democrat, it was Bush #1, a Republican. Parties have little to do with it, it's money that keeps our rights open. And yes, I'm a little miffed at how the NRA/ILA caved last time. I don't want them to do it again and will push them as far as I can with bitchiness and money to see they don't get stupid on me this time.

We can look at England to see where our civil rights are going. I do not want to live in a Socialist State where butter knives are outlawed and tax dollars are spent putting cushions on lamp posts and 3 million cameras monitor our every move (you'd almost think I'd made that crap up, but it's real. They have determined the state needs to take care of them and this is what they get).

OK, I'm done hijacking this thread. Go to HeroGear, pick you out a nice IT receiver. Don't buy Spikes, those userous 'bastids', though Spikes is way cool, they lost all my confidence by raising their prices just to cash in on the rush.

This should be required reading for all!

I 205% agree with you!

People need to focus on the big prize, and that is; STOPPING ANY AND ALL GUN BAN LEGISLATION!

I would challenge every member here to spend 10% of their annual firearms budget supporting NRA-ILA or another pro-gun lobby group.

If you can afford to spend 5k a year buying toys, how about sending 500.00 of it to ILA?

What are you talking about? Bush 41 was gone for over year when Clinton signed the bill, his Dem controlled Congress sent him. The passage of the AWB was one of the reasons the Republicans were able to take the Congress in the 1994 mid-term elections.

Bush had been working with congress on one for it for over a year before he was voted out. Clinton signed his bill Sept 14, 1994. This bill didn't just "pop up" it had been in the works for some time.

I like the panic. My wife lets me buy anything I want right now. I have her convinced I'll make huge profits. If high caps are banned or East German AK folding stocks are banned again. True it will take Osama a while to push anything through Congress. Congress will swing right like they did when Clinton was Prez.
