tipton/shelby dove hunt

Recommended Posts

So  am new to the area, just transferred in on Navy orders and am trying to find a spot to go shoot some dove this year.  I am quickly finding that public land here is few and far between compared to out west.

Are there any public lands in the Atoka/Munford area, or anyone with private land willing to take a Sailor and his 16 year old son on?

Man you must have really pissed someone off to get Navy orders to a landlocked state. The only Navy we have is in Knoxville on game day. ff49eab73b4780e4f0007a1a88fe009e.jpg

I have a few buddies down that way, I'll ask around. I am trying to get a few things in the books around Nashville. It's a bit of a hike but I'll let you know. Are you opposed to going to Mississippi?

Welcome to Tennessee Senior Chief. I served several years at Millington in VP67 until it was decommed and I transferred to Nawlins with VP93. I retired in 94. What kind of duty calls for an Aviation Electrician at Millington now?

I have no idea who to contact but last year on opening day there was a group hunting the field just west of Singleton Pky. where Bolen Huse Rd. crosses it.

It was pretty pricey IIRC. They have been doing it for years.  $80 or better a head. Welcome to the area, and thanks for your service both of you.

Dennis, thanks, I was looking at the map just now,  I have all the licenses.  Not near as much public land here as there is out west.  But I am allowed my freedoms, and there is water, so I think I may never leave....

Welcome to Tennessee and the TGO forum Senior Chief. I did both A & B school there, and did two tours of instructor duty there as well. Retired there in 1977 as an AMSC. I used to hunt all over that area in the late 60s and mid 70s. Lots of folks would let me and a friend hunt on their property back then. I have lost touch since then, but there are a lot of retirees in the area. Go out to the Charles Baker Airport and ask around. If Sonny Nivens or Frank Beaugard are still around, they might be able to help you. We all were flight instructors back in those days. They are good guys. Tell them I said hello. PM me for my name. Good luck.
