How so?  Looks like a 10/22 stock with an AK underfolder and AR grip stuck on.

They were made back in the 70's by companies that are long gone. They are considered collectors items these days.

My Dad was telling me that. I was too young to remember if I ever did meet him.

Do you know anything about the barrels on those 45-70's? They're stamped C&W Inc.

I have nothing to add about the Mauser actions, but Russian surplus ammo is going for @35 cents and more now, the present situation in the Ukraine has caused surplus 7.62x54r to dry up in the states.  Given the cost of converting other actions to fire Russian ammo, you might want to reconsider your original proposition ...

Harry W. Creighton, Master Gunsmith, Nashville TN area, active in the 60s and 70s. Built extremely accurate benchrest guns.

 

I don't think Harry worked at the Donelson ACE Hardware but there was an older guy there that worked the gun counter and used to be at all the Nashville gun shows back in the 80's and early 90's.  I acquired the rifle below at an estate sale in the mid to late 80's.  It came up at the end of the auction and the auctioneer said it was a .25 caliber so I assumed it was a 25-06.  The bidding started at $200.00, I ended up with it for not much more than that and had no intention of buying it. I had already bought several other items but now I had another.  After I got it home I then found out what I had.  It was a 98 Mauser action, Timney trigger, Sako barrel and a Herters stock.  Barrel was stamped .225 Winchester. H. W. Creighton.  I was at a Nashville gun show and the guy from Donelson Ace Hardware was there and I noticed he had several rifles that looked like the one I just purchased and upon further inspection they too were marked Harry Creighton.  I inquired and I can't remember hardly anything he told me but it was highly detailed and went on for like 10-15 minutes.  All I knew is I had a rifle built by an extremely talented and respected gunsmith.

 

I added the Unertl scope because I figured a rifle like this deserved it.  It's a tack driver to say the least.

Yeah, early in the thread I got confused as to which place my Dad got the HC built rifles and which guys was actually HC. I kept thinking it was the Ace Hardware in Donelson, but my Dad later told me I was wrong. I was born in 76 if that gives you a clue as to how I didn't know much. :lol:

Had he not told me it was a 45-70 bullet seater made from a 45 cal barrel, etc., I'd had no idea what it was. :lol:

Visited my dad a couple days ago. He told me he's had all the fun he wanted to have with those rifles. He proceeded to give all of them to me.

I really hate to see my dad at a point in life that he is getting out of his hobby.

The 03-A3 was my Grandfathers before my dad got it. I feel like it's something I should keep because of that.

I'm not sure what I want to do with the 45-70's though. I'm more in to the current precision rifles and tacti-cool stuff.  

Anyone got an idea of the value of those rifles?
