Petition to remove suppressors from NFA

Recommended Posts

Better, lean on your rep to get behind the bill that's already filed:

You'd think with all the legislative influence the NRA holds on the Republican party, that a bill like that could at least be pushed out of committee with some measure of speed.

Filling out a White House petition will just get someone on the bottom rung of the West Wing staff to copy and paste whatever talking points they have on file for a "response."  Seriously, look at the other responses on the site and tell me I'm wrong.

I signed it when there were 899 signatures and after confirming my email it is still sitting at 899.  Maybe it takes a while to include confirmed signatures but I wouldn't think so.

Why does anybody give a crap about a meaningless petition when there is an actual bill filed in the House that does what petition wants?

Get on your Reps to get the damn thing out of committees and get some congressional support behind it.

Exactly... These petitions are largely exercises in futility unless they meet the political agendas of the political hacks with enough clout to make it happen.

I like this approach;    This Act may be cited as the “Hearing Protection Act of 2015"

Since this has no chance of getting signed by the current resident of the White House, IMO, I think it's being brought up too early.

Tack it on to something much more important that BHO wants. Same way we got carry in National Parks.

I'd say it's too late for that.  Congress already passed the FY16 budget, and it's a long shot that the FY17 budget gets done before the election without any tack on legislation, so we'll see a  CR there, which isn't big enough to carry this bill as an amendment.  There would have to be a big trade off for something that would entice liberals to swallow this passing alongside it, and for sure in an election year, that kind of compromise ain't happening...not that compromising would have a good chance anyway lately.

Maybe with the next President it can be done depending on their priorities, but the bill would have to be reintroduced since it dies at the end of the current Congress.

Idea is to start getting support for that day. Easy to reintroduce, just like the perpetual AWB.

But these stupid polls do nothing. If they did we'd already have universal background checks at the least.
