Patriot Holsters (review)

Recommended Posts

I recently picked up a SIG P220 Carry. Live the gun, but finding a holster was a bit of a problem. A standard P220R holster is 1/2" longer than needed and for me the shorter length was the reason for the gun.

After some research I found Patriot Holsters in Texas. I asked about the P220 Carry and received a very quick response that yes they could do it. Patrick  there even included a photo of his own P220 Carry that would be used for the form. This fast response was a big part of my decision to give them a try. Throughout the process they communicated promptly and even caught an error on my order and sent me an email to make sure I would get what I wanted.

The holsters arrived today and I am very happy with the construction and workmanship. If you have a need please consider Patriot holsters. They treated me right and deserve a shout out for it.  http://patriotholsters.net

It is very high with the clips set up as in the photo. They can be moved down in 1/2in increments upto 1 1/2in.

I'm still figuring out the best location, but I'm long waisted and it's not a problem for me up all the way.

The only other change I'm going to ake is to remove the anti print wing from the IWB. For me it's not needed, but it might work better for someone slimmer than me...

Ya'll must have ordered back when he used to actually ship out the holsters he was paid to make. Numerous guys over on arfcom have waited ~6mo and Patrick won't respond to them. I'm on the 3mo mark myself and can't get him to tell me when the holster will be shipped or whether he will give my my money back. Be warned this guy is a POS.

I can confirm the 6+ month wait. From what I was told by another customer of Patriot Holsters, that they got swamped on Black Friday of 2016. After that, the wait times immediately went to 6 months. It made the wait times that they prioritize large government and law enforcement orders over individual civilian orders. They received a new admin in June that started replying to customer emails. Bless her heart because she would always be replying back to me at 11PM or later.

I received my package yesterday that I ordered on 1/15/17 (6 Months wait) a AIWB and a mag carrier for my Shield 9 w/CTC laserguard. I had ordered them in matte FDE, but I'm assuming because of my wait they upgraded my mag carrier to FDE carbon fiber but not the pistol holster. So now the 2 don't match at all.

Right now the holster is unusable due to how tight the retention is on it. When I first placed my pistol in the holster, it was nearly impossible to pull it out with the pistol in one hand and the holster in the other. Even after I loosened the retention screws all the way off it was the same effect. I could honestly tie a 5 pound wait to my pistol and perform the "jiggle test" and this pistol won't fall out. I have kydex shavings on my slide, front sights, ejection port, trigger guard, and on the laser. I've emailed them for advice on how to fix this issue.

I'll keep y'all posted.
